Hard to find any holes in this one. Almost like he reads this board.

Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
They take Peezy Junior and I will flip out.
He really isn’t that good…not even to take for nepo reasons.
I know I’m one of the few that feels this way.

Unfortunately, Mark Madden died of a heart attack while rounding first base.
As a reminder, this is the guy that said the Pens weren't going anywhere and wanted to trade Evgeni Malkin prior to the 2015-16 season. Him being negative about a PIttsburgh Front Office isn't any sort of insight, that's literally been his shtick for the last 30 years. The guy is a 400 lb bag of shit.

Prob so but is he wrong this time? I’ve been pissed about not drafting quality linemen in the first two rounds for about a decade now. You build a great team from the inside out. It’s why I wasn’t too keen on KP. Last season was the perfect time to start plugging the holes on a sinking ship. You need big mean nastys in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Maybe I’m just old fashioned idkPabst wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 6:29 pmUnfortunately, Mark Madden died of a heart attack while rounding first base.

In a certain way, it’s hard to be overly critical of the Najee and Bush picks from a roster building perspective. I mean, if I could snap my fingers to upgrade two positions by replacing what we have with above average starters, it might be ILB and RB.
Would people really not be critical if steelers had spent the firsts that went to Bush and Najee on another Mike Adams and another Ziggy Hood instead?
Problem was that the guys we took turned out to be below average, not so much that they were the wrong positions. And below average guys from the right positions wouldn’t help us any more.

Same here the last two years. It wasn't that I hated Pickett and Harris. I just wanted olinemen in both first rounds along with the fact that I don't think it makes sense to pick RBs in the first anymore like pretty much 90% of the GMs in the league. I'll never understand how they justify running an ultra conservative offense without making the offensive line a priority in the draft. It makes absolutely no sense. Kind of like running an ultra conservative offense in a league where the rules are slanted for high scoring offenses. The benefit of having the smartest coach in the league.Works At A Bank wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 6:42 pmProb so but is he wrong this time? And there were posters here that wanted to trade Malkin after the 2010 and 2011 playoff exits. Their reasoning, to get that 'winger' for Sid. Dopes.Pabst wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 6:29 pm

Maden ends his article saying that if Porter is picked he would most likely have to be moved to Safety. That doesn't make sense. I don't believe he ever played Safety at PSU and besides his skill set is at CB.
He might be right about the Steelers taking Porter but I could live with that unless a better player falls and they do their annual 'fall in love with a player and damn who else is available with their pick' thing.
I also feel this way. Don't like the player much, like our chances of finally coaching up and developing a drafted CB for the first time in the Tomlin administration even less.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

Pretty sure Terrell Edmunds is the best DB drafted and developed under Tomlin during the entirety of his Steeler career. That's saying something.

Forgot about Big Play Willie Gay. Tombert's first draft. Certainly a better value than Edmunds from a draft capital standpoint.Pabst wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 9:33 pmWillie Gay, but your point remains. Two decent starters over a 15 year period.
Definitely not holding my breath for a DB before the 4th round. Trades or FA for me, please.

Madden is right more than folks want to admit…
Little harsh towards anyone that reads him too no? I follow him on Twitter. I guess that means I should never come near you if you own a fire arm unless I have mine handy. Sure he's a prick but you have to realize Rick Flair was his idol. So when you look at him and see he's trying to be the Rick Flair of talk radio, you just laugh at his over the top schtick. Nobody is that big of an asshole 24/7 but if he really is, he's probably one unhappy SOB and that's just sad. I like to read his Steeler stuff because he's one of the few that doesn't just regurgitate what the organization wants to be said. He's certainly one of the only media people along with Bradshaw that didn't proclaim Tomlin a "great coach" early on and never question him to this day.

Madden got off on the wrong foot with me. I was living in Pittsburgh when Madden first had his local Pittsburgh radio show. It was at that same time that Rod Woodson was having his contract dispute that would end with his leaving the Steelers. And Woodson was my absolute favorite Steeler at the time. So Madden comes on, and he's trashing Woodson, saying the Steelers should get rid of him. Madden actually said "Woodson is a BUM."
Yeah, well, asshole, that bum went on to have a great career in helping the Ravens win a super bowl.
I think people who are down on the Steelers like Madden because he rips the Steelers, but Madden's being an asshole doesn't make him right.

The Football Life on Woodson was pretty good.Woodson
Forgot what a stellar athlete he was. Especially early in his career.
HUGE mistake letting him walk. Dumb move not moving him to safety here.
And I don’t think anything in this article is off base. All true.

Easy to be right when you don’t say anything that isn’t obvious to anyone with a junior varsity level of understanding of football.
Don’t ask yourself if he’s right, ask yourself if you already knew what he’s trying to convince you is true.
Aside from Madden being a moron, I don’t get why people
are so convinced we draft Porter Jr.
Tomlin fired his dad for being a distraction after getting into a bar fight. I don’t think Tomlin would draft his son if he were held at gun point.

Wehere does MM get his info that the Steelers(if they draft (JPJ) will move him inside to Safety? I haven't seen on scout or draft site mention it. He certainly didn't play the position in college and to date the Steelers have more pressing needs at CB then at S.
His comment about such doesn't make sense.
Joey Porter Jr sucks at off man coverage. What is the current Steeler scheme? Sounds like a match made in heaven. He can team up with WJIII

Even if only because there are significantly greater needs.
it’s based on the fact that JP J can’t cover, which is an important fact to consider here (which Madden made up for the clicks).fractalsteel wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 1:32 pmWehere does MM get his info that the Steelers(if they draft (JPJ) will move him inside to Safety?
