What a letdown
I was excited for this season to start for the 1st time in a long time, even before the preseason. Rooney really doesn't have much of a choice here.
No playoff wins in 7 years
Last 3 playoff games have been blowouts
Team stuck around .500
Canada not fired last year, Tomlin's call
Horrible coaching staff
Players are very disinterested, no discipline
Horrible drafts.
Players leaving and thriving aside from bust Bush who they traded up for
Head coach basically saying he doesn't know how to fix this.
Continuing to make wrong in game decisions year after year.
Losing to very bad teams year after year.
Continuing to stick with Players who are terrible; Harvin, Trubisky, Bush to name a few.
I'm sure the list can be added to but isn't this enough. I have to force myself to watch this, and it's been like this for more then a few seasons. How can Rooney sell the idea to extend this jerkoff. His only reasonable option is to get rid of him. How can you extend this?

No letdown for me. This team was not on a road to our next Lombardi.
I'm enjoying watching the train wreck, it's the only way to have a chance to see a different head coach for this franchise.
I'm enjoying watching the fan base one by one turn on Tomlin and the media too. Has to happen. Pulling for a completion of the free fall the next 2 games.

Let’s be honest, this team was incredibly fortunate early in the season. They are like 5 plays away from having a top 1-2 overall draft slot. That shit wasn’t sustainable. This defense isn’t good enough to overcome completely incompetent offense and QB play.

I'm not really let down because I didn't expect much. I thought the team would be mediocre at best. The season is falling apart now, and they're looking even worse than I expected. I am just sick of the current rut and waiting for the Steelers to make the fundamental changes necessary to turn this team into real contender.
I think Steelers fans had unrealistic expectations this summer. I have never seen so many people- the fans, the Pittsburgh media, even the coaching staff- put so much emphasis on preseason "success." For some reason, the Steelers' starters looking somewhat better than the Falcons' 3rd and 4th string grocery baggers instilled in many limitless confidence that the Steelers were going to be a serious Super Bowl contender this year. I have no idea what caused it- unrealistic optimism about beating some garbage teams down the stretch last year and a misguided belief that KP was a blossoming franchise QB? But, regardless, only terrible franchises emphasize preseason games, and I hope the Steelers fans/media/organization have learned the collective lesson.
I think that the 2011-present Steelers are starting to resemble the 1996-present Dallas Cowboys- a once proud team mired in mediocrity for decades. The Cowboys look like they're finally turning things around. I hope the Steelers don't need 30 years to straighten things out.

I think we will need Art to turn this team over to Daniel Martin before I feel even slightly confident we will turn things around.Havoc wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 4:05 pmNo letdown for me. This team was not on a road to our next Lombardi.

Watching at home VS patriots I openly cheered for the patriots and cussed when we blocked that punt, was thrilled when the patriots won.
At my steelers bar yesterday on the outside I cheered for the steelers but on the inside I was pulling for the colts. Once again I was p***** (on the inside) when we blocked the punt going up 13 to 0. Thrilled with everything that happened after that (kept it all inside though).
I'm also enjoying watching the fan base one by one turn on Tomlin and the media too. Has to happen. Pulling for a completion of the free fall the next 2 games.
Art II is not a football mind like his dad was.
Daniel Martin stayed in the business at least.

Wait what?? You guys aren't still on a high from winning the pre-season Super Bowl??
Just wait, KP is going to take a massive shit on his doubters when he's back from injury and we will get that preseason moxy back.
NHALS is in our sights. Team will play harder than ever now.

I hear you. I'm not confident either.jeemie wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 4:44 pmI think we will need Art to turn this team over to Daniel Martin before I feel even slightly confident we will turn things around.Havoc wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 4:05 pmNo letdown for me. What are the odds Pickens demands a trade this offseason?

C'mon folks, there are like 15 teams every year that would kill for our W-L record.
Ehh...I think without some key injuries at LB and DB I think we're probably a game or two more in the win column with this D and at least some of us are still mainlining hopium and Renegade. But they are Swiss cheese at this point. The offensive coaching staff is basically rearranging the deck chairs with the waves lapping at their feet. If we don't lose out or go 1-2 I will be (pleasantly) shocked.Steelperch wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 4:10 pmLet’s be honest, this team was incredibly fortunate early in the season. Might have to look again at one of those 8-8 finishes, but for me the staggering degree of the offensive collapse makes it Tomlin's worst season as a head coach that I can remember.

However, I remember you being a staunch Tomlin supporter.
8-8?
The coaching staff is void of talent, including the fraud HC, who can no longer ride the coattails of Cowher’s players and coaches.

I would still say 2009, 2014, and 2018 were worse, as those teams were true Super Bowl contenders that Tomlin wasted. Maybe throw 2012 in there too.drmalba wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 8:16 pmEhh...I think without some key injuries at LB and DB I think we're probably a game or two more in the win column with this D and at least some of us are still mainlining hopium and Renegade. This year's offense is the most pathetic unit Tomlin has had during his 16 years here, though.
Agree 100% on this point. It is way more disappointing to me to have a team that should be capable of challenging for a title but throwing that away. At no point this season did it feel like there was a real possibility of any deep run in the playoffs, so this collapse feels less like a failure relative to those years. Even the 2020 smoke and mirrors 11-0 start team was more disappointing because at least with Ben I thought there might be a chance.W&M_Steeler wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 8:28 pmI would still say 2009, 2014, and 2018 were worse, as those teams were true Super Bowl contenders that Tomlin wasted. 2012,2013 are what I'm reconsidering, whichever one was "Unleash Hell."Stillchest wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 8:26 pmYou must have a short memory.drmalba wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 8:16 pmEhh...I think without some key injuries at LB and DB I think we're probably a game or two more in the win column with this D and at least some of us are still mainlining hopium and Renegade. 2019 was kind of a regression to the mean like this season seems to be shaping up to, with similar QB limitations, but the defense was lights out that year and that was all Tomlin.
As far as my staunchness, I'd say up until a few years ago yes, put me in camp Tomlin and overall mostly entertained by his exceedingly well-developed lines of BS. That's cooled off the last few years, and he's surely testing me more than any other year, this year.
I do not buy the horeshit narrative about "Cowher's players" and you're wasting your time bringing it up with me. No matter how this ends dude is light years from Barry Switzer.
yeah, Switzer was a legendary college coach. So I'd have to give him the edge over Tomlin

I never thought this was a super bowl team but wasn't expecting Pickett to play as bad as he has. I thought maybe a 11 win team making some noise in the playoffs, not regressing into the worst looking Steelers team I have ever saw.steelmann58 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 10:24 pmI agreeHavoc wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 4:05 pmNo letdown for me.
