Why not? Not really any downside if he wants to come from Latrobe and see what happens.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

Does he know KP8 isn’t very good?
"We, as an offensive collective were off today, and certainly, he's a component of that,"
So celebrity boxing didn't work out for him? Who've figured?

Bell was a generational talent and 2X First Team All-Pro. Guy was awesome to watch in his prime. He will be 32 with virtually no mileage on him since he turned 28.
There is no real 3rd RB option on the roster as it's constructed right now. Not like he would be preventing Anthony McFarland development.

Wait, M.C. Bell's rap career never took off? What a surprise.
I'd absolutely bring him into camp.
As has been pointed out, he's in ridiculous shape, and hasn't really taken any football punishment since his first season with the Jets.
Bell's general game wasn't ever about speed, it was based upon vision and quickness. Both of those would be enhanced through boxing training.
Plus, if you line him up outside, or in the slot, he'd be the possession receiver this team is currently missing.
It's not like he pulled an AB. Bell just chose to listen to the wrong people, and made a bad decision.
He never spoke badly of the team, the coaches, or his teammates.

What the hell take a flyer. The Bell shuffle and miss would be a nice counterpoint to run wide and into a wall.
The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.

This x 10000
He would make for a lot better 3rd RB than they've rostered in forever. Good receiver, good on blitz pick ups, and there's a history of lots of RB's thriving in their 30's with a reduced roll, see AP and Mosert.

Hard pass. He lacks character.
Plus, we already have one slow footed RB Jibbs needs to feed.
Don’t need another.
Any back we add needs to have SPEED!!
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 84 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Saying Bell was generational feels like a reach. I think that should be reserved for guys like AP, Sanders, LT. Bell was great for a few seasons, but lacked the top end speed to really be that type of game changer.PennyBacker wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 6:20 pmBell was a generational talent and 2X First Team All-Pro. I'd say bring his ass on. We gonna be the best running team north of 1997. And by "best" I mean most.

I see the point you are making and actually agree with it. He was not a generational player, but I still think of him as a generational talent … Splitting hairs maybe, but Bell was unlike anyone else as a runner and receiver.StillerInCT wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 10:07 pmSaying Bell was generational feels like a reach. Yes, I believe he was somewhat of a product of the rest of the offensive success, but he was also distinctive in how he dominated. The way he stuttered behind his blocks, and ran with patience; the way he was such an athlete going up to catch passes. He was a unique blend of physicality and grace.
While I certainly enjoyed watching Bell play for us, I keep remembering what he put on tape his last year(s) in mostly NYJ/KC (BAL/TB - just a bit) and it was very painful to see. Whether it was father time, a worn-out body, a loss of will or just indifference he was nowhere close to the player he was for us -- I mean nowhere. I just don't see it happening.
If MT did think about it: For one, a RB3 needs to play STs and I don't see Bell doing that wantingly/effectively. Second, I don't see MT bringing in a seasoned vet (especially one with previous team ties) into Najee's room; I just don't. He desperately wants him to lead this team, and a guy like Naj, as nice as he may seem, can't afford to be challenged by an older alpha in the room, because he'll regress as a 'forced' leader, imo.
Instead, give me some young, hungry late-round RB (similar to Warren) to add to the mix. If it is going to be some FA added to the RB room, hopefully he has experience with Smith's running schemes.

He also had one of the best Olines this franchise had seen in about 5 years blocking for him.PennyBacker wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 12:48 pmI see the point you are making and actually agree with it. OH man...yeah I loved watching Bell run the ball. The patience and stutter were fun to watch. It's such a shame that he left and AB went insane because the 3 B's would have been historic if they'd stuck togetherPennyBacker wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 12:48 pmI see the point you are making and actually agree with it. I loved watching Laveon Bell play football in 2014.
By 2017 that changed with me. He was slowing down the offense. I had started pounding that drum in 2016. No ability to get downfield.
There is some myth surrounding Bell in the passing game. His total number of receiving TDs for his entire NFL career is... 9
I was once hopeful that he could help us in the RZ. It never materialized. Other than 2014, Bell in the slot scared noone.
I was so happy with Connor's one cut and get downfield running style in 2018 (so was our OL who had to play stupid paddy cake holding their blocks waiting for Slow As Molasses to finally make his move resulting in an amazing extra half yard). Connor was an upgrade, had an ability to knife thru traffic, more burst to get downfield, better Y/R. Connor scored 11 TDs tying Bell's career high. Bell only had 2 seasons with double digit TDs.
Our highest scoring offense per game in the Bell era was when Bell was injured and did not play for a significant stretch of games... 2015 We averaged over 30ppg without Bell on the field and finished 4th in the league in points per game that year.

*Fooled by volume*
We inserted a RB who was pretty good but nothing special in 2018 and the offense had it's highest league per game scoring ranking than any season with Bell except for the 2015 Bell injured the majority of games season.
Many got mesmerized with Bell's unique running style. It was a case in sports where the impact wasn't as great as the spectacle.
