Now that Mike Williams is gone, AIYUK??
If we do not want to part with our 1st round pick, would Highsmith and a 4th get everyone where they want to be?
Shedding that contract would also help sign Aiyuk and we are going to have to pay a QB NEXT year maybe that's the scenario??
Herbig could slide in and what about Bud Dupree for OLB depth??

Cutting Highsmith only nets something like $1m in cap savings this year. The Steelers really don't need the savings next season if they want to sign Aiyuk anyway.chippedhamsandwich wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 9:47 pmIf we do not want to part with our 1st round pick, would Highsmith and a 4th get everyone where they want to be?

Before we go trading away daft capital and players we need to know what the quarterback situation is going to be and who will be coaching the Steelers. (Still gotta ask, lol)
Tomlin hasn’t been extended yet and very well might be but right now for all we know coolshades could be coaching his last season.
Believe it or not there is a very real possibility of him having his first losing season.
Wilson is only a one year rental at this point and Fields would be looking at a 5th year option which would be roughly $25Mil.
Plus Aiyuk wants to get paid…
How does all this work going forward?

Blowing $25 million on the Fields option would be the perfect way to spoil the cautious optimism they have been generating to this point in free agency...Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 11:01 pmBefore we go trading away daft capital and players we need to know what the quarterback situation is going to be and who will be coaching the Steelers.
