Bottom of the roster, blocking TE, specials teams competition. His days of a moving the chains receiving TE are bout done though.
Good cheap Arthur Smith experience & competition signing though. May be a roster boost based on the new kick rules. Haven't got my head wrapped around player traits needed or useful for that aspect yet

Doesn’t pass the Ron name test.

For offensive skill rooms, don't be surprised if/when we roster 4 TEs, one FB/TE, 2 RBs, 5 WRs, and C. Patterson as our 3rd RB/6th WR this year.
Also, 3 QBs and 9 O linemen; totaling 25 O players.

I saw it mentioned somewhere that Connor Heyward already has a FB designation assigned to him.
Of the three former players under Arthur Smith, I only expect Patterson to make the team. Van Jefferson and Pruitt will be camp bodies that will help teach Smith's offense but ultimately will be cut and/or be practice squad candidates.
We have Freiermuth, Washington and Rodney Williams at TE and Heyward as the FB/TE. That gives you your best group.
Pruitt doesn't play special teams to the extent that Williams or Heyward does. Pruitt had 200 special teams snaps the past two years, Connor Heyward I think was somewhere approaching 550?? And Williams last season in just 13 games had almost 200 special teams snaps and made 6 tackles on the coverage units.
The Steelers and Danny Smith will have a lot of work to do to assemble their special teams units this year. A lot of core ST players have moved on or we chose not to bring back. And it isn't just about getting a kick returner, you have to figure out what players you need to have for coverage on those kick return units under the new rules.
Van Jefferson? 0 special teams snaps last season. The year before that? 1 special teams snap. Miles Boykin the past two years had 533 special teams snaps with 15 tackles. I am hoping that we still resign Boykin, I think he was developing into a great special teams player.

ASmith will use them all. The man is all about multiple TE/HBaxk/FB formations.

Too bad the Iowa kid with the mullet retired 2 days after being signed, he would have been a nice FB to have now.

Bring in Carson Steele.
In their current state, I hate everything about this organization.
