Marching orders from the Deuce to Khan and Tomlin
Dulac has some misses lately, but even though everything
publicly was KP8 or bust, he did have the inside track on behind the scenes displeasure with Pickett, & Clank even at the end of last year. Maybe he's hearing something about a big name WR trade, not sure who is available as a FA that would be a bigger name catch than Williams. He's right about the O being very cheap next year capwise.
Provides some inside context for the crazy uncharacteristic moves. Sounds like there was finally some serious discussions from the Deuce about going balls2wall so he can get some playoff ROI for all the $$$ invested in the D before Cam is done, and either Minkah or TJ start seriously breaking down:

For all the talk about the defense, it has failed to deliver just as much as the offense when it matters most. I haven't watched any of these playoff games and been like yea, the defense was let down here today.

Also, Dulac is wrong a fuck ton. I question if the guy has any sources whatsoever.
Well, this is pretty interesting.
Dulac doesn't have a great track record, but he's hearing we're looking to bring in a WR bigger than Mike Williams.
To me, that's getting into Justin Jefferson, Aiyuk, Deebo, or Diggs territory.
It sounds like Khan is making calls trying to land another splash. Restructuring Watt, Highsmith, and Minkah can free up $25M in extra cap space. A Heyward extension has the possibility to carve out a good amount of extra cap space as well.
Interesting times...

Agreed, because not only does Tomlin need a defense full of superstars to do anything in the playoffs, he needs those stars to be perfectly healthy. Any injury renders the entire defense totally worthless in the playoffs. See 2017 (defense couldn't overcome the loss of Shazier and got Bortled) and 2020 (defense couldn't overcome the loss of Devin Bush (?!?) and got embarrassed by Baker, a Browns team starting back-up lineman, and a head coach at home with COVID).
I have no sympathy whatsoever for Cam. He had plenty of opportunities in the playoffs, yet never really did much of anything. That 2017 loss to the Jags will always irritate me. That defense had plenty of very good players and half a season to adjust to losing Shazier. They should have been able to limit a Blake Bortles offense to under 30 points. The offense certainly held up its part of the bargain that day- that was the only time all of the "Killer Bs" were on the field at the same time. 42 points should have been more than enough. Losing a boat race to the Blake Bortles Jags at home in the playoffs is the most embarrassing loss in Tomlin's career and wasted the last, best opportunity the 2010s team had at a ring. That team should have made the Super Bowl. But the defense couldn't make a stop, let along force a turnover. That game would have been a great time for our supposedly "Hall of Famer" DE to do something meaningful.

Deebo would be a nice pick-up, but it's not worth kicking the Cam can down the road.tbsteel wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 4:09 amWell, this is pretty interesting.

I wonder if Justin Fields can catch. If so, he'd be a great candidate for the Deebo Samuels role. Too bad he probably thinks playing WR/RB is beneath him and would rather stand on the sidelines as a back-up QB.

Hey at least that would be an upgrade from a backup QB who refused to stand on the sideline!W&M_Steeler wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 11:28 amDeebo would be a nice pick-up, but it's not worth kicking the Cam can down the road.tbsteel wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 4:09 amWell, this is pretty interesting.

Hope there is a splash, my choice would clearly be Justin Jefferson but I think thats about 0% probable. love me some Deebo Samuel, that mf is a beast.

Justin Fields, I’m against using him in a slash role. I would rather start Justin Fields from day 1 because he’s age 25, he’s got big skills, and I’m not a believer in Russell.
Can Fields be the guy, let’s find out. Fields has a great arm and running ability. His struggles involve his progressions and finding the open man, and getting the ball there late. He lacks anticipation sometimes, but not always. Can Justin Fields at age 25 overcome those problems? Let’s find out. Arthur Smith might be the right OC for Fields.
Having said that, I fully expect the Steelers to start Russell Wilson and we will have to deal with untold number of games of his up and down, over the hill game management.

From Fillipponi.Sources: The Steelers have looked into 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk. He’s entering the last year of his contract. Steelers would have to execute a sign and trade. But they’ve shown interest.
