Must have taken Danny Smith three packs of gum to come up with that idea.

Joe Theismann did it 50 years ago, punt returner.

Didn't Mark Malone do that too?

This tells me more than anything, in addition to Rooney talking about needing to start winning playoff games, that Tomlin is on the hot seat.

This runs counter-intuitive to the pursuit of NHALS. Tomlin would never risk his backup QB in this way, as losing your backup QB could put NHALS in jeopardy. But when NHALS is no longer good enough, these are some of the ideas you [desperately] pursue.

Maybe he talked to Cowher and Cowher was like "you know, we had this guy everyone called Slash..."

I guess points for creativity?

Lots of point for creativity!

With the new kickoff rule, the kicking team cannot advance I think until the ball is caught, hits the ground and so forth. Both teams line up across from each other with the kicking team on the receiving team's 40 yard line and the receiving team in-between their 35 and 30 yard line. So it is almost like a typical scrimmage play.

So Fields is back there and the kicking team shorts it and Fields catches it on the 10 yard line or something like that. Remember he can throw a forward pass right? So on the line do you let your guy go by you to rush Fields or stay with your man? Does the kicking team drop guys back to prevent a deep pass? If so, that opens up the field more allowing a guy like Fields to run by you.

I think this kickoff rule change is going to have some interesting effects this year...

Wait! What???
Is this true?
Will the players be wearing red rubber ball noses and giant shoes?

Forgot about that, I had to look it up. It looks like it was 1 KR in 81.

I think he also did PR duties too. Believe he tore his knee up while playing WR if memory serves...
