I maintain that getting Metchie for a 5th rounder would be a good move. Kid can play,

Patrick has had two catastrophic injuries the last two seasons (ACL and Achilles) so it’s a risk, but the Doncos said they are probably going to release him so maybe would cost nothing.

Other than that I think they are probably rolling with who they have. Can’t help but think they thought they could make a splash move at the position and they have been completely stonewalled.

If Pickens gets dinged we are so so so screwed.

Donavan Peoples Jones is intriguing and he’s only 25 years old.

Sterling Shepard is a reliable vet who was released by Tampa.

DPJ might be a below the radar type of add.

No on Toney. He’s too gadgety and we don’t have the type of offense that would utilize him.

There’s a reason for that…he’s a below the radar type of player. He isn’t any better than most of the guys currently on the roster.

I’m pulling for Van Jefferson. But he’s gotta show he can beat press coverage.

If we knew that Roman Wilson would be playing next weekend I’d feel better but we haven’t heard shit.

Yep. That's the organizational arrogance on display. Probably will surface to bite them in the ass but not that it matters much. This team is far away from being legit championship contenders, imo.

I see all this Metchie talk....What makes everyone think the Texans are going to trade a young/cheap player just scratching the surface? He's arguably their #4 right now. They would laugh at a 5th rounder. I think they would be more willing to part with Noah Brown or Bobby Woods.
In their current state, I hate everything about this organization.

What's AB up to these days? He's an all-time great who is probably still in NFL shape. Plus, he'd be an excellent mentor to Pickens. Let's sign him up! 8-)

Agreed.

I think the Texans would think long and hard about a 3rd rounder for their #4 WR, but I don't think they'd take any less.

It would be funny because he's obviously crazy but I'll bet that dude is still in phenomenal shape and could still be better than 70% of the receivers in the league.

With a young guy like Kenny Pickett at QB, I wouldn't touch AB.

With Russell Wilson as the starter, a Super Bowl winner and borderline Hall of Famer?

I'd fucking call AB in a second. He seriously might be humbled, as nuts as he is.

The fans would welcome his unstable ass in a second and would freak out every time he caught a pass.

Football is entertainment. A game and this Steelers team is not competing for any Super Bowls.

Why not call the guy (and believe me, I know there is zero chance they would actually call AB.)

There would be incredible excitement in the city and in the league if the Steelers had enough nuts to bring AB back.

It would be a nice end to his career if AB would come back humbled and contribute. But I think he's burned too many bridges. He's just too insane. Too bad, because he would have been in the Hall of Fame otherwise.

List of WRs I would seriously look at......

****Updated as cuts come in****

(if released/many are on the bubble)
*****Noah Brown***** (great fit for us if healthy!)
*Terrace Marshall Jr.*
John Metchie (I'd give a 4th)
Xavier Hutchinson (I'd give a 7th)
Robert Woods (I'd give a 7th)
Tim Patrick (I'd give a 7th)
K.J. Osborn (I'd give a 7th)
Treylon Burks (I'd give a 6th)
Javon Baker
Justyn Ross ( I think he could really turn into something in another year or two, if healthy)
Malik Heath
Bo Melton
Grant DuBose
Martavis Bryant (if he somehow got smarter/matured???)
Russell Gage
Miles Boykin
Jamari Thrash
Cornelius Johnson
Allen Lazard (AR will probably make sure he makes the team)
Collin Johnson
Charlie Jones
Jordan Whittington
Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Myles Boykin was released by the Giants. Steelers should sign him for ST alone

Is this team that bad, that poorly coached, that we need to consider giving a hat to a guy like Myles Boykin specifically for the gunner role because the other dudes already set to make the 53 cannot perform that role successfully?

How does Danny Smith still have a job?

It just seems stupid to me.

Boykin was an excellent special teamer.

Nope, I don't want him back. Teach a promising young guy like Dez Fitzpatrick to be a good special teamer while developing him as a WR being that we're a little shorthanded at that positon.

Enough with the old timers.

We're going to very likely be in a rebuild next year with a first round QB anyway. Start putting young, talented guys in place while awaiting his arrival.

Patrick restructured his deal this offseason so the Broncos save pretty much nothing if he's cut. That's a pretty big sign that he's cooked.

We were likely waiting for whatever the Texans were going to do.

Neither Wilson nor Jefferson are going to be beating much press coverage on the outside. CA3 has that in his golf bag but he's not the blocker they want on the outside.

After what he's been through recently, I'm betting dude is beyond humbled.

Didn't he just file for bankruptcy?

Yep, he sure did. If that doesn't humble someone, nothing will.

While that's a pretty insane statement, I've watched Swann, Stallworth, Lipps, Ward, etc. all live and I think Antonio Brown was not only the best Steelers receiver of all time, I think he would have ended up the second best of all time in NFL history had he not gone off the rails.

Only Jerry Rice was better. That's it.
