Dunno about you other asshats, but I don't really watch steeler football to be "entertained," I watch to see the Steelers win, and so far, that's what they've done.

I'll say it again....we don't enjoy these games, we suffer through them and hope we're happy at the end. So far this season, I've been happy at the end.

I'll spare everyone the usual diatribe I give when the topic of Madden comes up, but dear God I wish people would stop paying attention to him.

Madden only cares about the Penguins and soccer which is very odd for a fat fuck from Pittsburgh. He’ll be dead or off the air in a year or two, just wait him out.

First off, Madden exists to just get people's blood boiling.

I understand the mantra, Swiss. "Just win, baby". But we've seen this movie before. Steelers will/should win most games where their opponent has inferior talent. They might even lose some of those games.

But vs teams that have superior talent: Buffalo/KC/Houston/etc. we all know they're gonna get rolled.

Let's do a root cause analysis:
Why? Because this iteration of the Steelers only exists to get into the playoffs.
Why do they only exist to get into the playoffs? Bc Tomlin enjoys his consistency/NHALS and all that
Why does he enjoy the consistency moniker? Bc he gets paid a ton of money and the fans/media adore him.

In short, this team won't win a game where they don't have a talent advantage. When is the last time in the past few years Tomlin has been a big underdog and pulled out a W?

It’s boring af. Madden is Madden but the point is we look as lost on offense as we ever have, at least the same as the last 3 seasons.

Kyler Murray tripled our offensive output for the entire season in about 8 minutes of game time yesterday. We’ve been held captive by this Tomlinball for so long now that when we see a real NFL offense our jaws hit the floor.

Week 1 vs Cincy (7 point underdogs)
Week 6 vs Tampa (9.5 point underdogs)

2023:
Week 5 vs Baltimore (4.5 point dogs)
Week 17 vs Seattle (4.5 point dogs)

Hard-pressed for an answer, Deebo. Maybe the Sunday nighter in baltimore in '22 (dunno the point spread on that)...but...yeah, let's see what happens when they fall behind by two scores. Meantime, i'm good with seeing them accumulate wins against teams they should beat, particularly on the road.

Your WTF stat after 2 weeks: The Steelers have outscored the Dolphins and Rams this year.

It’s happened several times

The only thing more tedious than Madden are jagoffs that whine and complain about Madden, for some stupid reason.

That said, he's right again. This team is ripe for a winning season and no more, built for mediocrity which is acceptable now.

KC would run through this group like a buzzsaw.

Madden trying to entertain people by saying he isn't entertained.

Does he watch the game? Is the play of Pickens not entertaining? Some people just can't be pleased. Perhaps being miserable is his entertainment.

Madden's points are usually on target. You need someone in the media that will call out the mistakes of the organization. Too many are just yes men that spew whatever the team wants. That makes me sick. The problem with Madden is he tries way too hard to be the Rick Flair of sports talk. It's ok to be critical and needed imo. Being a dick is a choice. I guess it works for him because he's been on forever and has made a lot of money but I can't imagine being as miserable as he seems to be all the time. All that negativity has to weigh on you. I mean I'm super negative about this team, well Tomlin anyway but it doesn't turn me into an ass 24/7.

More excited I could not be when he spurned offers from Penn State, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Oklahoma to sign with my guy Mike Gottfried’s Pitt Panthers.

As a kid, I lived and died with the outcome of Pitt and Steelers games.

I followed every personnel move those programs made both player and coach.

Read every piece of literature I could get my hands on (NO INTERNET)

Pitt has dwindled out of relevance slowly but surely since winning their last National Title nearly 50…that’s FIFTY…years ago (OMG I’m old).

My expectations for that program ever winning anything relevant faded away years ago.

So when prickly Pat Narduzzi pulled out a last minute win over WVU in the backyard brawl I ENJOYED that WIN for what it was, a win over their longtime rival.

I know Pitt isn’t going to compete for a National Title in my lifetime so I’ll ENJOY a FUN, hard fought, WIN any chance I can because that’s my Pitt EXPECTATION. They’re going anywhere relevant. I accepted that years ago.

The Steelers?

I was in elementary school during the 70’s dynasty.

Like every sane kid in Western PA I LOVED those teams.

LOVED WINNING knowing that each WIN was going to culminate into WINNING a SUPER BOWL.

Was I “ENTERTAINED?”

My mom sure was (RIP).

Sat 3 feet from the TV yelling, screaming, cheering hanging on every play.

Now the Cowher teams?

OH YEAH

I was ALL IN

Was I “ENTERTAINED?”

The “Slash” year I absolutely was ENTERTAINED.

Yes

I celebrated every WIN no matter how “ugly”

BECAUSE

I was a firm believer in Cowher and his teams

I BELIEVED that man was destined to win some Super Bowls.

Now?

Tomlin?

That horse has been beaten enough

Sure, I want to WIN.

BUT, I’m not “HAPPY” just because they WON and I’m definitely not “ENTERTAINED.” I mean, did we watch the same game Sunday? The 2nd half abortion vs Denver was so gawd awful I switched over to the Chiefs/Bengals game.

A NIGHT AND DAY difference in both ENTERTAINMENT value and QUALITY of football being played.

A direct reflection of COACHING and the TALENT on the football field.

Anyway

In the midst of Tomlin’s 7…that’s SEVEN…straight playoff appearances without a WIN, I’ve (sadly) accepted the fact that Oscar Meyer is not going to EVER WIN my once beloved Steelers another Super Bowl.

I’m not going to root for losses. I’m definitely NOT going to celebrate WINS. I will however HOPE that Tomlin retires to do TV or competitive hot dog eating with his boys Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut.

There is no hope with Tomlin so yea it's very hard to be "entertained". I appreciate hard fought contests that we WIN (or even lose) bc there was hope. They say hope is the last thing to die and it's been dead ever since 2016
