Week 3 of 2024 season
STD, off his meds, decides to start another draft thread for April of 2025, which includes trading our future HOF player.
Can we just enjoy the season? Or shall I say, try to enjoy it before talking draft in week 3?

The Steelers said they would have traded up for Mahomes if he had fallen much more. KC traded a 1st and 3rd, plus a 2018 1st. If the Steelers had offered a 1st, 2nd, and a 2018 1st... they probably get Patrick Mahomes.
So, would you do that deal?

No, I wouldn't bc PH doesn't become the player we see him today under Mike Tomlin. PH and Reid are a marriage in heaven.
If we drafted him, he'd probably have been long benched by now due to his risk taking and turnovers, something that MT dreads more than anything.
Tomlin wasted 1 generational QB, what proof is there he wouldn't do the same to PH?

Everybody on earth would make that deal.
Every team in the NFL wishes they would have drafted Tom Brady prior to the 6th round back in the 2000 draft.
We also have to remember that in 2017, when Patrick Mahomes was drafted, Ben Roethlisberger was
still considered to be in his prime. This place would have likely hit the roof with anger had we drafted Mahomes when Ben still had another 5 years left in him.

Good question. I would do that trade with a caveat that Jibbs is nowhere around to ruin Mahomes. We would need to have a HC that's offensive minded and knows his stuff.

If yes, then PM is obviously starting in 2019 (after Ben's week 2 elbow injury), so do you trade Ben before the 2020 season, and if so, what do you receive in return for him? A 1st?
Or....
By the middle of 2018, if PM shows you what's he's possibly capable of, do you trade Ben then, if so, what do you get? A 1st plus?
