Here's my scorching hot take: The real problem is Aaron Rodgers.

The owner has balls.
Wish we could say the same about the Steelers.
Wish we could say the same about the Steelers.
If the Jets win this weekend they take over first place in their division, yet they fire their coach?

Long time coming, most likely.

I’d snatch Saleh up as a defensive coach in a heartbeat.

The Steelers MADE the playoffs just last season.
It's that whole WINNING an actual playoff game that's going to set new records.
Nick Markakis on Astros: "Every guy over there needs a beating."
the jets gave up on two QBs who looked terrible for the jets, and brought in arguably the best QB in the NFL based on recent league MVP/all-pro accolades.
Now those two they moved on from are two of the highest performing QBs in the NFL and Rodgers is poo.
I can’t imagine a better scientific experiment to prove with 10 sigma or whatever confidence that QB is not the issue for the Jets.
Not much different from the Browns bringing in the most efficient QB in NFL history and letting their disappointment walk, only to watch their new QB suck out loud and the disappointment become one of the league’s top players.

The Jets and the Steelers will be the same place once this regular season is over. At home on the couch.
We're even further away from that record.Steeldrama wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 2:36 pmNot even close actually.

Kansas City went 22 years between playoff wins (1993-2015)
Cleveland went 26 years (1994-2020)
Buffalo went 25 years (1995-2020)
The longest current droughts are:
Miami is sitting at 24 years and counting (last win was 2000 season)
Vegas is at 22 years (last win was the 2002 AFCCG)
Washington is sitting at 18 years (last win 2005)
Someone can double check this, but I believe the Lions win last seasons ended the longest drought of the Super Bowl era (32 years)

Rodgers was very much on the decline his last season in GB, and he was also turning into a serious locker room cancer. Now he's 41and coming off a major injury.
I'd put it this way: It's not so much that the Jets are a bad organization that caused Rodgers to decline. It that Rodgers was already in decline and the Jets are a bad organization for throwing a shitload of money and draft capital at him.

Rodgers is a prickly old bastard (it happens)
Writing was on the wall when Saleh tried to bro hug him on the sidelines and Rodgers pushed him away with a WTF kind of look
Factor in the rumor propragated by the overly make-up'd Colleen Wolfe about a shouting match between Jets owner Woody Johnson and Saleh at the owners meetings and you have the makings of a lame duck head coach.
Woody went all in on Rodgers and his cronies.
Saleh was put in a bad spot there.
Gives clear power to Rodgers NOT the head coach.
Saleh knows defense.
I'd hire him as my DC
Oh wait Tomlin's my DC
Dammit

Yes as soon as ppl start asking Rodgers if he and the coach are “cool” you better start freshening that resume.

Rodgers likely had a hand in Saleh's demise. I wonder if Saleh's decision to wear a large Lebanese flag on his sleeve during the Sunday game played a role in the timing of Saleh's firing. The Jets's owner Woody Johnson was Trump's ambassador to Britain:Orangesteel wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 3:14 pmYes as soon as ppl start asking Rodgers if he and the coach are “cool” you better start freshening that resume.

I'd wager the flag was the deciding factor.

Lots of guys wearing the "extra" flag, so I doubt that it would be the reason. Hell, they were pretty sloppy in London and had high expectations this year, so don't need much of an excuse.langer wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 2:31 pmHa, only a 22 page FIRE SALEH thread over here.

See, this kind of QB putsch is what's needed and how things change in the NFL.
Kenny was a pussbag, he never had the makings of a varsity athlete. All these other QBs that come in here are eunuchs.
Marino, Ben, Montana, Young, McMahon, Jim Hart, Cunningham.
Rodgers has a track record, more good than bad. People rip him for not being like the rest, cheap bs. Can't have any individual thought, it's not permitted.
Teams need QBs with the balls to go after leadership.

Certainly wouldn't have been a reason to fire him if things were going well, but I bet it pissed Woody off to see that flag prominently shown on his head coach's sleeve along with the Jets logo given the circumstances. Straw that broke the camel's back.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 3:49 pmLots of guys wearing the "extra" flag, so I doubt that it would be the reason. Now that Aaron Rodgers is the de facto head coach, maybe the Steelers can take advantage of the situation- three way trade, Steelers send 2nd rounder to Raiders, Raiders send Adams to Jets, Jets send Wilson to Steelers, Steelers send 3rd to Jetslanger wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 3:51 pmSee, this kind of QB putsch is what's needed and how things change in the NFL.
