Tomlin Presser...We are Doomed

Post by franco32 » Tue Jan 14, 2025 6:06 pm

He has a waterfall of cliches going on right now. He sounds like he has no intention of leaving or approving a trade. We are fcked.

"What about the story on Pickens being late to the KC game". -- Tomlin "That was a few days back. I've got a lot going on pre-game".

Sounded arrogant. Like he’s co-Coo with Art2

His issue with “opinions” over Amazon broadcast

Says they’re wrong , moves off subject

Asked about the athletic report today about Pickens. Totally evasive and ducks ou

Maybe he put out the notice about him retained

As arrogant as ever. Nothing different. Says he's "open to change and is adaptable".

Sounded a lot like he wants Justin Fields to be his starter next year. Basically said Russ is old. Good luck with Fields as the starter! I should add that he also seemed open to a flyer on a QB in the 2nd or 3rd. Gave Lamar and Hurts as examples of later QB picks that have panned out. Maybe we can complete the shitshow by drafting Milroe.

Dunno why any of you are the least bit surprised. He's going NOWHERE. Some years back, I remember debating some of you asshats and taking some shit for my position that both Mike McCarthy and John harbaugh (although a dick) we're better coaches than harbaugh

Swiss,

No one is surprised. As much as TB might have thought a year-end collapse would have done the trick, we knew it wouldn't work. Tomlin will leave when he says so. Art 2 is just a passenger on this ride.

It sucks. It really does.

I've come to grips this team is irreparably fucked with this clown running things. It's clownshow up and down the organization.

No sense in getting mad. I'm enjoying laughing at the mess.

When Tomlin teeters on the sidelines wishing he was home listening to his idiot wife bitching and moaning about t-shirt sales at her pagoda in the strip, I get schadenfreude big time.

He's in purgatory with a one way trip to palookaville. If he continues this he might not even make it to the HoF.

Maybe someone will dump a beer on his head walking out of the tunnel.

The arrogant way he said "save your time" when asked about the trade rumors or the opinions on the Prime broadcast.

That was the attitude of a coach that understands there is nothing he can do where his job will even remotely be in jeopardy.

Thanks, Art II, for enabling him like that!

And all of this might happen because Mike Tomlin is never one to question Mike Tomlin.

He will continue to interfere in running the defense...he will insist it will be this same Tampa 2 shit that is well out of date.

He will continue to interfere on offense and make sure the priority is to "possess the ball" rather than score points.

There will be some sacrificial lambs...but there will be no changes worth anything.

I am interested in Art II's end of year now.

Depressing indeed, but not unexpected.

I THINK we as fans are in the midst of living the equivalent of the pre-Chuck Noll era.

Difference being your Pittsburgh ancestors didn’t know any different.

Their Steelers were “loveable losers” with zero expectations

Grandma and pap-pap never experienced the feeling of winning a Lombardi, nor did they have hope they would one day do so.

One winning season let alone 18 straight was considered an overwhelming success.

Enduring this era of Steelers’ football will be MUCH more challenging.

We know what is was like to have competent ownership, coaching, and a roster full of HOF talent.

We celebrated multiple Lombardies

Now?

Some of you may not want to accept it, but we’re the “lovable losers” our grandkids will look back on in disbelief that we, their loved ones, suffered through the dark ages of Steelers’ football.

Thanks Deuce and Mike

Well said. I came to fandom in 1975 and was fortunate to have the remaining 70's early 80s teams to enjoy, Until 1984 drought of 24 years until Ben. It's def like you're saying Drama

No offense to those who do, but this is why I laugh at folks rooting for losses.

Mike Tomlin isn't leaving until Mike Tomlin feels like leaving and I'm not in the least bit surprised that he's a lock to stay and probably stay for a long time to come.

We're gonna run it back with minor changes to the roster here and there.

End of story.

I have 3 teenage sons. They appreciate our history and know it well. But, it's still hard for them to imagine us ever winning a Superbowl. My 15 yr old said yesterday that he feels we will never win one in his lifetime. Talk about depressing.

This encapsulates our purgatory better than anything:

Q: "You've got several seasons that have ended in similar ways. Does that make you rethink the way that you either go about your job or the way that you just go about handling [inaudible]."

A: "Certainly. Certainly. I have a cliche that the guys often throw back at me um in jest but it's true. Two is a pattern. And I say that because there's an expiration date on adjusting and adapting. You know? And so I use that phrase to reflect urgency. Um, to reflect how quickly we need to adapt and adjust and move. And so although as you've mentioned we've had similar results, rest assured that we're not doing the same things hoping for a different result. We have adapted. We have altered our approach and we will continue because we're not getting what we seek. And that's the confetti game. It's to be world champs. And so um our goals are really clear. It's also really clear that we're falling short of it. And falling short of it in a consistent way. And so we're going to continue being open to adapting our behavior, our program, the structure of what it is that we do. Um to turn over every stone in an effort to get what we desire. And that's just the appropriate and mature way to approach it."

While this is debatable, I think it could actually be more fun to see us suck really bad than to finish in the middle, squeeze into the playoffs some years, and then get smoked in the playoffs.

Would rather be a total embarrassment for no other reason than it’ll make us an even bigger laughing stock.

Jibba needs to get further exposed. Dunce will eventually have to do something.

It’ll happen. Just maybe not as quickly as we’d like.

And maybe Dunce is sticking with Jibbs because he knows his own time is short and would prefer his successor hire the next coach instead of him having g to do so.

Might be the most logical reason he’s content sticking with the fraud for now.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 84 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Pretty good back and forth between Brian Batko and Brooke Prior about how the press is handling his non-firing, and a review of the press conference.

I don't have a problem with this team bottoming out but I'll believe it could happen under Tomlin's watch when it does.

I loathe the guy but he has literally made mediocrity an art form.

Weirdly, I'm almost more interested now in seeing if this motherfucker can win 9 or more games than I am seeing this team make a deep playoff run.

That's probably because the former is a possibility and the latter is not.

On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin held his end-of-the-season press conference. This is typically a time for Tomlin to reflect a bit on the past season but as a rule, he speaks in generalities, not wanting to give too much away.

But one area where Tomlin was surprisingly specific was the issue with injuries. Tomlin noted the large number of soft tissue injuries in 2024 the Steelers had to deal with. He said this was a priority that they would be looking into this offseason.
Steelers list Phil Matusz as new strength and conditioning coach.

This is a new one for me. He hired the strength and conditioning coaches from his son’s Boston College team.

Jesus Christ you can’t make this stuff up.

Can’t hire a good coach to save his life!

See, we need him here just for this mellifluous prose, the charismatic way he unfolds his logic and intelligent thinking through linguistic mastery of his vocabulary, his mind is aglow with whirling, transient nodes of thought careening thru a cosmic vapor of invention.

I don't ever want to give this up!!!
