"On January 27, 1969 the Pittsburgh Steelers name Chuck Noll head coach. The 37-year-old Noll becomes the youngest head coach in NFL history at the time. He succeeded Bill Austin, who was fired by Pittsburgh in December. Noll came to the Steelers having coached for the Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers (1960–1965 - defensive line coach, defensive coordinator & backfield coach) and Baltimore Colts (1966–1968 - defensive coordinator & backfield coach). Noll was hired after Penn State coach Joe Paterno turned down an offer for the position. Steelers owner Art Rooney would later credit Don Shula as the person who recommended Noll as a head coach."
We need another earthquake like THAT in SteelerLand.

OMG, what I would give to have a young Chuck Noll again. Driven, determined, wouldn't accept mediocrity, detail oriented, focused, believe in preparation and scheme....shellwagnerblount wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2025 9:35 pm"On January 27, 1969 the Pittsburgh Steelers name Chuck Noll head coach.
