Steelers give up a 2nd round pick in this year's draft.
Metcalf signs a 5 year $150M contract.

That will get us up to 19.5 points per game.
I'm assuming.
They're going to make it enticing for a quarterback to wanna come here with Metcalf and Pickens.
The little fast guy Austin and tight ends that probably should be more productive in an n.F l offense.
Then Roman Wilson as a 3/4

That was an immediate thought I had.
I think Pickens might end up getting dealt.

Pickens is probably having a shit fit as we speak.

Who is going to throw him the ball? This is a move you make if you have a QB worth a damn in place.
Seems a bit crazy.

George is witnessing what he COULD have, worst attitude in the league and he is coming up on a contract like that?
DK is not without his faults, but shit I like paying him more than George…..

I'm guessing Steelers will end up with Darnold now

Will they trade Pickens after giving Metcalf this big a contract? Cant imagine his attitude after seeing the other starting wr is making 30 million a year.

DK getting $33m a year and George needs to come play at $3.4
He’s gonna be pissed
This is what they have been trying to do though with Pickens, he’s an idiot
It’s a #1 receiver but “Pickens Insurance” as well
Kept our 1st Round pick and paid DK instead of George, maybe they can trade George for a #2 this Spring, pick another WR in the draft to complement DK.

I would keep Pickens, with those 2 on the outside Steelers will face a ton of cover 2, which means whatever RB they draft this year could have a lot of room to work, would make most sense to draft a RB with some speed.

I wouldn’t mind this. I still don’t think George is a complete #1 WR because I don’t think he’s a consistent “move the chains”chippedhamsandwich wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 12:21 amDK getting $33m a year and George needs to come play at $3.4

type of WR. It’s feast or famine with him. I understand our play calling has done him no favors, but even when he does get chances to make those possession-type catches, he has a way of making them look awkward and harder than they need to be.
Now, with DK on the other side, I do think that’s less of an issue. Because now DK can be that dependable guy and Pickens can use his deep ball ability to keep safeties off DK. There’s definitely value there.
But I also don’t mind trading Pickens and picking a rookie who might be a better all around WR, especially when there’s no way we can afford to pay both Pickens and DK.

If they could get a 3rd for Pickens this year they would probably move off him, head case and due money, so drafting a rookie in the 3rd would probably make sense.Louis Lipps Service wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 12:30 amI wouldn’t mind this. If they keep Pickens, he likely walks after the season and signs a big deal somewhere, Pickens is likely to be on his best behavior this year, if his agent has any brains at all he would get him psychiatric help...if he signs a big deal after the season, Steelers likely get a 3rd round comp next year.

If he plays this year out they Franchise him like Tee Higgins with the Bengals last year.StillerDownSouth wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 12:36 amIf they keep Pickens, he likely walks after the season and signs a big deal somewhere, Pickens is likely to be on his best behavior this year, if his agent has any brains at all he would get him psychiatric help...if he signs a big deal after the season, Steelers likely get a 3rd round comp next year.
George is too dumb though, he’s getting moved at the draft or before the season starts, mark it an eight Dude.

I hate giving up a 2nd round pick in a draft deep in DT and RB which both are badly needed.
I hate paying a WR $30 million per year to primarily block in Tomlin’s risk averse bullshit offense.
No matter what they do this off-season, it won’t matter because Tomlin is incapable of winning in the modern NFL.
Arthur Smith with these two WRs and some shitty QB like over the hill Russ or turnover Darnold is a recipe for a 9 win season…
They went from having a ton of cap room to probably being out of cap space once they extend Watt and overpay some bullshit QB.
This off-season is all about selling more hopium to the idiot yinzer fanbase.
Fuck everything this team does.

If Darnold doesn’t come, Russell Wilson will be re-signed.
