Green Bay gave up Kenny Clark and 2 1st round picks and paid Mikah 200 million....wow.

This is the kind of move it would have made a ton of sense to do for us this year while loading up for 2026. Instead we get more of the same BS. I love TJ but a big time reset with 2 firsts would have been great.

Agreed. Should have asked Jibbs to move on with his life’s work, hired Ben Johnson, and traded TJ. Could have even thrown in Captain Cam to sweeten the deal.
By 2027 we would have been a serious contender.
Instead, we will still be mired in mediocrity come 2027.

Kenny Clark is old and Green Bay is gonna be so good, those first round picks Jerrah landed are both damn near gonna be second round picks.

GREAT trade for Packers.
I think their head coach sucks and will continue to hold that team back
But
A good aggressive trade by both the Packers and Cowboys.
I’ll just sit here waiting on that Gabe Davis signing

Could benefit Steelers, Cowboys likely to lose more games now making Steelers 3rd rounder from Cowboys next year potentially higher.

I don't see how anyone could honestly think the Cowboys won this.
Parsons is a generational talent. You don't trade those guys for lottery picks and a 29 year old DT.

No doubt behind the scenes Jerry was pissed ("And you are?" I ARE PISSED!").
He thought he had a handshake deal done with Micah then little agent boy stepped in and jacked it all up.
Ohhh the Packers won the trade and Jerry is taking some heat, but I'm leaning toward the logic of it.
You can't pay ALL of your superstars.
My transplant hometown Braves are STILL taking heat for letting the GREAT Freddie Freeman walk to the Dodgers (little agent boy mucked that deal up too).
You pay your quarterbacks (he overpaid Dak) just how it goes, but record money for Micah didn't make much sense for a team not in contention like the Cowboys.
Hard to trade away a player in his prime and Jerry probably should've squeezed another pick out the Pack, but I like the sort of stand he took and not writing a blank check just because that's what fans and pundits expected him to do.

Micah and TJ have both played in 4 playoff games.
They have a combined record of 1-7
They have combined for a total of 2 sacks.
Zero forced fumbles. Zero INTs.
14 solos tackles and 12 assists.
Only 6 TFL in 8 games. Only 9 QB hits.
The lone impact play between these 2 in 8 playoff games is TJ recovery of a fumble returned for a TD vs. KC to give the Steelers a 7-0 lead before the defense gave up 28 straight points on the way to giving up another 40+ points.
Anyway.
Never a good feeling trading away this kind of talent at 26.
Thought they could have squeezed another 3rd and 4th rounder out of GB

All that plus a ton of cap space. I don't think an Edgerusher is worth QB money.
I think Edge is overrated to an extent. They get flashy regular season numbers, but the core of a championship defense seems to be a strong DL. I'd rather have disruptive inside linemen supported by good but not great edge rushers than fantastic edge rushers with good but not great interior linemen. Edge seems to be easier to scheme against (or easier for the refs to take out of the equation by not calling holding).

I agree the position is being over valued
It’s far too easy to scheme a single defender out of the play.
But if you are going to tie up that much money on a defensive player, it makes more sense to do it at 26 than 31

Enjoyable series…
….right up to Super Bowl XXX
Emmitt joking Larry Brown had worst hands on the team added insult to injury.
Fucking O’Donnell
BRUTAL reliving that game especially from a Cowboys perspective but even despite that loss it serves a reminder that I’d take my guy Cowher over Tomlin 100 times out of a 100
Oh
And did anyone have more fun with his life than Michael Irvin?
Shady dude for sure but helluva football player on the field and a world class partier off it.

Have to agree. The top edge rusher just makes your defense lopsided and if you don’t have an all pro opposite, just too easy to run the offense opposite the all star Edge…and as you mentioned the flags get stuck in their pants.

Harrison probably benefited a bunch from having Troy. And Troy benefited from Harrison. While Harrison locked up one side of the defense, Troy benefited by knowing he could focus on center and opposite side of the field and he was a run stopping machine. We have zero stopping or controlling power from MLBs or Secondary to supplement Watt.

The best defense of the last decade was driven by a dominating duo on the edges. They had good interior guys, too, but to say that edge guys are overrated is ridiculous to me.
Parsons isn't just an "edge" anyway.

people were talking about how parsons does ‘everything’ on the defense. But here we are after four years and he has about as many passes broken up in his career as an average TJ Watt season, goose egg Ints, and similar FF etc. Not special in run defense either. He’s a pass rush specialist. And good at it. But let’s not pretend there’s more to his game than that.

Yeah but I would have jettisoned Caher out of the lifeboat around 1998 and again in 2000. Let’s not get too hazy over Caher football just because Tomlin eats a bag of dicks.

First 4 years of their careers....TJ vs. Micah
2017-2020
TJ 62 games 4 INT 25 PD 17 FF 4 FR 49.5 sacks 230 tackles 59 TFL 111 QBH
21-24'
MP 63 games 0 INT 9 PD 9 FF 4 FR 52.5 sacks 256 tackles 63 TFL
112 QBH
TJ obviously the more impactful plays other than just sacks and getting after the QB.
I think the biggest difference between the two is the freedom the Cowboys gave to Micah. Allowing him to line up all over the LOS... coming. From different spots, shooting different gaps, finding missmatches, ELEMENT OF Suprise.
TJ has none of that. The defense knows where and how to negate TJ before the game. During the game, all game.
Let's see what MP does in his second 4 years.
2021-2024
TJs second 4 years in 59 games. 3 games less.
3 INT 24 PD 16 FF 8 FR 1 TD 58.5 sacks 232 tackles 67 TFL 114 QBH
