HOF nominations
Pouncey and DeCastro are nominees.
I would say no but yes to Hines Ward and James Harrison.
Brees, Rivers and Fitz are locks.

Yes to Ward but Harrison will never sniff the HOF. To few very good years in the career for a pass rusher.Dan Smith--BYU wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 4:27 pmPouncey and DeCastro are nominees.

Notice I said "for a pass rusher" RBs have different rules as per Mr Davis.
They also will put in favorites without great careers. See Tony Boselli.

Would love to see Ward and Harrison in, loved them both as players for that generation of Super Steelers, and Hines was even a great player during the late Kordell/Maddox years, at the end of the pre-Ben Wanderings Through the Desert.
Sadly, neither will get in. Would be the ultimate insult to how great those two were to see Pounce get in and not them, or even more so, Decastro. I'd be happy, cause Steelers, but sheesh, it'd kinda hurt to see.

I mean, he has a better case than LC Greenwood or Andy Russell, two who are deemed worthy candidates. 4 All-Pro teams, 1 DPOY, amazing postseason high points. There are guys in the HOF with less than that.jebrick wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 4:35 pmYes to Ward but Harrison will never sniff the HOF. Harrison damn sure should be a HOF’er
Totally dominate for a nice stint. And pretty good the rest of the way
Ward ……borderline but I would support him for a gold jacket. Made plenty of big plays in his career and has two rings
Pouncey ???? Hell to the no
DeCastro ??????? Fuck no. Not now or ever. Textbook definition of middling slacking player who NEVER delivered in big moments. Fuck no. Fuck to the hell to the no.

When is it Ben's turn? Seems like he has been out for a decade. Duck, Mason (2 or 3 times), Pickett, Fields, Wilson and Covid.
Also, did Watt do enough to get in or does he need a playoff win or even a SB to get in when he retires?
I hope Ward gets in. Very tough player and hard working individual.

Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS.

The problem is there are about 15 players on that list who deserve to get in, and they can only take 5. The backlog is getting nuts.
If Art Monk is in, Ward should be as well.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 9:22 pm

Both WR's in a run heavy offense that were the best blocking WR's of their era. Made the most of their limited targets/opportunities
They are about as apples to apples as you can get.
Ward should be in because he was one hell of a football player. And shouldn't the HOF be about the best FOOTBALL players?
Yes, there are plenty of WRs who had better stats than Ward. And I wouldn't take any of them over him. Ward was the better football player.
Harrison was a truly special player at his peak. Not just great at rushing the QB or setting the edge, but also a great FOOTBALL player.

We used to draft FOOTBALL players, not athletes. Hell Ben was a FOOTBALL player who played QB.
Now this team is full of pussies

Ward should be in just because a Rule was created because of him. DL, LB & Safeties (ask Ed Reed) were terrified of him knocking them the EFF out. When does a WR have a bounty put on him (Ratbirds) cause they were physically scared of him. Defensive players heads were on a swivel when 86 was on the field.
Plus, I have a signed yellow helmet with a COA. My other signed helmet is black from my All-Time fav Stiller, Dracula Lambert.

Some may just remember the old slow version but Ward had that IT factor. Clutch. Loved playing the game, laughing, smiling. Couldn't wait to put on the pads and get hit. Dished out the punishment to the defense.gojira5150 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 7:54 pmWard should be in just because a Rule was created because of him. A) Was one of the best of his time.
B) Was commonly referred to as the best blocking WR in the NFL (.)
C) So physical the NFL had to re-write the rules on the crack-back block.
The HOF is for the best of the best, those that defined the game and made it what it is today. Seems to describe Ward, absent the old slow version.
I can remember someone saying "give me 22 Hines Ward's on my team".beerbrother wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 9:34 pmSome may just remember the old slow version but Ward had that IT factor. Clutch. Great runner after the catch but never was a deep threat with 1 mediocre ACL. Yet when it was 3rd and 6, EVERYONE knew where the ball was going but still they almost never could stop him.
If Sapp is in there Hines belongs.
That Sapp thing was really odd.

Thanks. Seems like a long time. Hope he gets in first time and before Brady.CzechSteeler wrote: ↑Sun Sep 28, 2025 6:18 pm2027Texas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 9:52 pmWhen is it Ben's turn? Duck was in 2019, during the year Ben was out for the season after his week 2 elbow injury. Ben played during the 2020 COVID year (that was the 11-0 start year that ended with the loss to the Browns in the playoffs with Stefanski coaching from home due to COVID).
Agreed 100%, though I am more enthusiastic for Ward. Also LC and Andy are long overdue.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 9:22 pmHarrison damn sure should be a HOF’er
