SF Podcast Week 4: Vikings at Steelers...Across the Pond
The Steelers ventured into New England and pulled out a win thanks to five turnovers committed by the Patriots. Now, the Steelers go on an adventure in the Rooney's homeland to play a game in Dublin, Ireland. Join your hosts Jeremy Kohlman, Wil Masisak, and Korey Karbowsky as they briefly discuss the win over the Patriots, but more importantly look ahead to daunting matchup against Minnesota Vikings. The NFL has really outdone themselves as they have a game that features some ol' time Northern invaders trying to invade Ireland...got to love those schedule makers! We also look at some other matchups around the NFL in Week 4. Let's hope the Steelers eat their Lucky Charms this week and pull out some Rooney magic and a win across the pond!

Cam, Harmon and (dare I say?) Benton might be able to make some hay this week with Donovan Jackson DNP with a wrist.

Jackson's out, but Jake Brendel has been really good for them this year at both OT & G. Last year he had some issues in pass pro, but going to the coaching in a place like MIN seems to be a boost to OL.
The Steelers have so many other exploitable issues on D that one matchup on the interior is probably not going to make the difference. MIN's OT's have been erasers in pass pro, they get their starting C back, and you can afford to help the interior guys a little.
As we said during the show, getting Carson Wentz off his spot and off his timing is the necessary disruption they must have... but the other side of the ball is really the trouble here. MIN has the #1 D and the PIT offense can't run well nor push the ball downfield because of its pass-protection woes. They can't even run PA without putting their QB's life at risk. The Steelers D is going to have to come up with one of their showcase games, nearly shutting down MIN's offense and paired with PIT's OL having the best showing in years in order for the Steelers to have a chance.

Its pretty pathetic that pretty much nobody is giving us a chance against Carson Wentz.
He is slow and his release is even slower.
But I agree, in terms of how a team is built the Vikings on paper are far superior.

I mean i don't expect Carson Wentz to light up the Steelers but their defense is good for creating points/field position and they have the quick passing game that is the Steelers nemesis.smithessmokin wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 6:59 pmNot because we don't want to buddy..Orangesteel wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 5:14 pmIts pretty pathetic that pretty much nobody is giving us a chance against Carson Wentz.

So, Minnesota's #1 D has run up those #s by barely beating the Week One Bears, losing to the Falcons who got rolled by Carolina last week and whooping up on the Bungles sans Burrow. I'm not going to deny they've got talent, and I'll agree with Ben that there's certainly a coaching gap from a schematic standpoint, but on a Thursday afternoon, I'm not sure I'm willing to let the pendulum swing quite so far in the direction of hopelessness.

I believe they were #1 in EPA last year as well, so it isn't just about what they've done in 3 games.Ice wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 10:37 pmSo, Minnesota's #1 D has run up those #s by barely beating the Week One Bears, losing to the Falcons who got rolled by Carolina last week and whooping up on the Bungles sans Burrow.
