Steelers-Pats last thoughts

Post by swissvale72 » Thu Sep 25, 2025 1:06 pm

Just one really....Boston talk shows were all over Mike Vrabel, both for his decision-making and his perceived unexpected softness re: his players.

Anyway, Greg Bedard, a local football analyst was beside himself, like "Why the FUCK did Patriots open the game with two-high safety against a team that has posed ZERO downfield threat?" They apparently moved a safety into the box once down 14-0 and Steelers gained a total of 55 yards between their initial two possessions and their final possession.

Maybe Vrabel is also a game day fuck up :D

The Patriots losing the game was not on their coaching staff.

The staff made adjustments and those adjustments worked.

Should they have implemented a different defensive scheme from the start?? Seemingly

But again, they didn't lose the game because of that.

They out gained the Steelers by 170 yard. They should have won by 2+ scores.

They lost because of turnovers

They lost to a team that is in disarray and a total mess.

The chowds have a right to be pissed.

This is just crazy, but historic!

I didn't see the game or go back to any of the highlights. Were the Patriots involved with a perfect storm of turnovers or was it sloppy, careless play. I think there were even two end zone turnovers? Without the turnovers, it seems as if it could have been a New England blowout of Pittsburgh.

As Tomline puts for of his strategic genius "on tape" for opponents this season, nothing is going to get easier.

2-high has been a more common base look in recent years, and i don’t know why someone would look at the 31st-in-the-nfl rushing attack and think ‘we’ve got to do what it takes to stop that’.

We need to be able to throw against single high. Pats lost because of fumbles.

the two fumbles by steveson and one by gibson were on them ... sloppy dumb play. stevenson deserves a benching IMO as they were bad plays
the INT was a decent play by the steelers and the maye fumble was decent D play - but Maye was careless on both plays
two of the TOs were in the end zone

Yeah, the hosts were on vrabel for keeping Stevenson in the game and feeding him the ball at the goal line
