Where's Roman?

Post by TimmayLake » Tue Sep 23, 2025 5:24 pm

Is he injured or just not getting targets in our high power offense?

Is it too early to call him a bust?

I don't know if Roman Wilson can play or not.

But...I can tell you this, if any defensive coordinator is actually watching, any time Roman Wilson comes on the field, the Steelers either run the ball (90% of the time) or they throw a screen pass to a back (10% of the time.)

It's mind boggling.

If Wilson can't actually catch passes (I'm pretty sure he can) then don't play him.

Why only use the guy during running situations? I understand Wilson is known as a good and willing blocker, but Jesus Christ how do defensive coordinators not know that when Roman runs on the field, the Steelers are running the ball....because they do. Seemingly every time.

I hate the mass substitution bullshit. Skowronek gets a few snaps per game. Roman gets a few snaps. Scotty Miller gets a few snaps, etc.

It's bizarre.

This offense doesn’t

Throw the ball to receivers
Attack the middle of the field
Throw downfield on early downs
Have any intermediate passing game

Same shit since after Ben got hurt and Rooney/Tomlin went ultra conservative on offense. No QB or OC will change from their NHALS tested and approved formula. Play it safe, get 9 wins, NHALS 4 life.

I thought at first that that rodgers and some of these other moves were all about playoff wins or massive change coming
I think now I may have been wrong and it was really a desperate attempt to keep NHALS.
they know this team stinks -- they brought in some veterans to execute the Tomlin ultra-conservative Plan and try and preserve NHALS

We may be rooting for the wrong thing -- we say we are pulling for losses now ... maybe the better angle is they accomplish 9-8 and get humiliated first round of playoffs again. the story instead of being ... well its just a team in transition (poor Tomlin) ... is Plan fails again in embarrassing fashion and sets the record for playoff futility ... move over Marvin Lewis ... there is a new impostor in town

This is why there really isn't any need for the team to trade for a WR, or spend draft capital on a WR, they refuse to use them.

Yeah, but their thought process is "1 catch could be the difference between 9-8 and 8-9"...and this organization LIVES for NHALS.

they have pissed away the good-will of the Brand and they cant win playoff games
they Cannot have this last Thing now also fail ... it is why we have ramsey, rodgers and metcalf

You guys are being too hard on the team. Don’t you know how good they used to be? Don’t you know how they stack up vs other teams if you factor their long-term success?

Spoiled.

We should be grateful for what this team did for us years ago and should also be thankful that Mike Tomlin is our HC.

I can’t imagine anyone else doing it.

Only 3 coaches in our history. Current coach NHALS.

Team also has the highest paid defense in the league BY FAR which is certainly something to be proud of.

Show some appreciation would ya.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 84 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

What's the over/under on how many times Tomlin's bust in Canton is defaced with "NHALS"?

In order to deter such vandals, the NFL will undoubtedly have to have a NHALS exhibit right next to Tomlin's bust

Learning year last year while he was injured.
Now that he has a helmet... it's year 2 of the year of the learning.
Kaleb Johnson is in his red shirt year.
Next year will be his year of the learning.
It's a process.

So by the time he's getting meaningful snaps his rookie contract will be over?

Yes, which means you have absolutely no context to determine whether you want to give the person a second contract it’s at it’s total brilliance

Roman Wilson, the new RB, Leal etc etc

3rd by rounders giving this team less than zero…

Wilson is an early down, scheme to space slot receiver in an offense that never runs 3-wides on early downs and never creates space for its receivers through motion/formation. Whay would anyone expect him to succeed? The only way he'l succeed is if he re-invents himself, goes to another team, or gets a different offensive braintrust.

I don't ever hope for any injuries to any Steeler player, but Kaleb ain't getting any opportunity until there is an injury.

Whatever happened to the good old days when the Steelers would trot out 5 wide receivers, go shot gun and throw the ball all over the yard, I have fond memories of this back in the Neil O'Donnell days, the Tommy gun days, and remember Ben and the boys thrashing the Rams in St Louis one year opening the game with this strategy.

Ward, Sanders, Brown, Wallace and Randle El, now that was a crew, went to a Super Bowl with dem cats, not sure why Tomlin would ever have gotten away from an offensive strategy made up of speedy wide outs. Guys like Wilson and Austin probably would have thrived in an offense like that.
