Offensive Talent Really Doesn’t Shine On Crappy Teams

Post by Mick » Sat Sep 27, 2025 6:28 pm

On september 27, 2025, we have seven 3-win nfl teams: Indy, Buf, LAC, Phi, Sea, SF, and TB. Lot of good offenses among them, tho SF has struggled a bit with their QB down and McCaffrey having to carry a heavy load.

I’m a bit entertained that in 2022, there was a September 19 game between NYG and CAR that featured Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, Baker Mayfield, Christian McCaffrey, and Sam Darnold, offensive leaders for 5 of the 7 of those current 3 win teams. Wonder how many of the fans there that day realized what a clash of titans they were getting to witness.

Carolina naturally dumped Baker and Darnold (and Caleb Williams, effectively*) for a ticket to the Bryce Young Experience.

Just one more reminder of how fans (and front offices) overrate the ability of qb/rb play to overcome other offensive issues. Anybody honestly think any of those five guys would have looked good in our offense? We have a good number of solid guys on O, but we have a few bad players and basically zero truly good players. Not a recipe for elite production.

*I guess McCaffrey as well, at least in part.
