I don't think he'll find much disagreement here, but it's funny seeing him come out and saying what we're all thinking.“If I say that I think we’re gonna get outcoached, is that controversial?” Roethlisberger said via his Footbahlin podcast, trying to be cautious with his words. “I’ll say this, I think Brian Flores is a very good defensive coordinator…I think coach Kevin O’Connell is an exceptional offensive mind.
“They’re gonna find ways to try and exploit our defense, and their defense—which is what everyone does, I get it—I just think that there’s a chance that it could…”

Well, the Steelers look like those old time electric football games on every play.
Bud Grant could outcoach the Steelers. Jerry Burns too.

“We’ve got to write that story. We’ve got enough talent, we’ve got enough schematics to do big, big things. When I say big things, I’m talking about historic things.”
And just like Cleveland’s coaches during covid, they wouldn’t even need to be present.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 81 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

I've seen this so many times with Tomlin. They will 100% beat the Vikings this week. Then, after the bye, will promptly lose to the Browns.

I often wonder what Ben’s career would’ve looked like if he played in an organization that valued offense and played for a great OC. I bet he thinks about that too. He could’ve put up Manning//Brady numbers and won MVPs somewhere else.
Certainly part of his standard.Stlcrtn1974 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 1:02 amI've seen this so many times with Tomlin. They will 100% beat the Vikings this week. Then, after the bye, will promptly lose to the Browns.
However, the think we lose this one. The travel, better coaches, the pressure of winning for Dan, etc etc and I think will be all too much to overcome.
I mean, this is a team under Jibbs that choked on their own dicks over a self created National anthem issue.
I think they dump this one too.
And I hope it’s in embarrassing fashion.
I’ll be rooting for them come game time as I always do.
But if they get smoked and it’s bad, I’ll certainly get a chuckle.
Their losses have long not bothered me. In fact, I think I enjoy them even more at this point. Anything that brings awareness to the fraud that is Jibba Jabber is good with me.

It’s too bad he played under me we will do what we do and you can go bail us out late.

Ben was used and abused. Putting Green in at center and leaving him there was corporate malfeasance.
He was Bud Lighted by the idiots that run the franchise. He got Cracker Barreled by goofballs speaking in stupid cliches and excuses.
Look at what happened to Goff or Stafford.
Look at what they're doing to Rodgers.

I’m fully expecting them to get dog walked this weekend.
They should’ve lost by two scores to the Patriots who have a terrible offense
The Jets who have maybe even a worse offense, managed to put up 40 fucking points
This team is so poorly coached, across the board it’s ridiculous
That art can sit in the owner’s box and find this acceptable, is practically criminal
In regard to Ben’s last seasons, it is increasingly clear, just how much the poor coaching impacted this team
Watching Aaron Rodgers, who is one of the all-time elite passers, both in timing routes and precision throws, go through the same bullshit, that Ben went through really shines a light on the actual problem

I have no desire to listen to Ben’s (or any retired athletes ) podcast.
Rich has beens looking to feel relevant (and avoid their wives)
Helluva nice basement, but not worth my oh so precious time
Seeing blurbs from the show it just seems like a lot of Captain Obvious type takes just like the one y’all have pointed out in this thread.
Still
My Captain Obvious take is Tomlin should’ve hired Flores as his DC with some sort of associate head coach title.
I would’ve gone so far as to throw in a head coach in waiting title (then renege later if need be).
Give Flores total control of the defensive side of the ball. The talent would still be an issue but at least the scheme and play calling would be sound.
Tomlin as a babbling quote machine is much more tolerable knowing he’s no longer ruining the staple of a once proud organization, the defense.
Hindsight is a bitch but I had 5 free minutes
Any of y’all heading to Dublin?
Win or lose that’d be fun trip

When was the last time (if ever) Tomlin outcoached another NFL team?
This isn't the first time Ben has been...critical of Tomlin. You can tell the difference in how he talks about Cowher v. Tomlin. But I would say in the past it was more passive aggressive. This isn't even thinly veiled.Steeldrama wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 1:30 pmI have no desire to listen to Ben’s (or any retired athletes ) podcast.

If the season goes as it looks like it might, I hope Aaron goes on Ben's podcast and they both just dump on Tomlin. Neither are well liked by the media, but to have two HoF QBs both say "Tomlin doesn't understand modern NFL offenses" is something that would be hard to ignore.
tomlin’s draft day press q and a where he explained all the reasons we decided to draft a more experienced center instead of kendrick green right after we drafted green is one of the all-time NFL moments to me, and really never got due attention.langer wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 9:26 amBen was used and abused. Ben going the Captain Easy Stance route...
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
Id like to see a press q and a where he explains how an offensive line coach fired from a 5-12 team with the 30th ranked offense ends up in Pittsburgh. His 5th team in 10 years.

Would you want to work for Tomlin if you were a coordinator, probably not, this is why we get the assistants we get.

You hear players saying they want to come here to play for Tomlin but ever hear a coach say he wants to come here to coach under Tomlin
Yeah, word gets around about Coach T.
Would you want to be a QB, RB or WR and come here? What good would that do for your career?
Clownshow.

Exactly. Because Tomlin is extra soft on vets. This team doesn't have the attention to detail or preparation of others, so if you're just looking to cash a few more checks....steelmann58 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 10:34 pmYou hear players saying they want to come here to play for Tomlin but ever hear a coach say he wants to come here to coach under Tomlin
And, despite what the media says, the league seems to pretty clearly know what Tomlin is all about. It's why NO ONE poaches staff from them. So up-and-coming coaches probably know Tomlin is a clown, and they ALSO know it's a career killing move.
Tomlin has built the NHALS version of the Washington Generals.

This is not a stretch by any means and is in my opinion accurate….
Think about it, there are posters here that could give this current staff a run for their money.
I’d wager to go as far to say there are high school football coaching staff across this nation that can as well.
