Offense-59 snaps
-Friermuth is a one-third time player with 21 snaps, compared with 47 & 41 for Washington & smith...heyward had 6

-going 1 wide a lot....Scotty miller had 26 snaps, Roman Wilson 15, skowrenuk 10

Defense -82 snaps

-Herbig, watt & highsmith about dead even with 50, 49, 47 respectively, sawyer with 24

Peyton wilson & Holcomb...2/3 1/3 split

-secondary, porter, Elliott & thorn hill played nearly complete games. Jaylen with 63 snaps..Chuck Clark was this weeks guy with zero snaps, peppers had 10

So by snap count, Scotty Miller is our current #2 WR.

Going into Week 7, he has 0 yards on 0 receptions.

Thanks Swiss.

82 defensive snaps is not good.

Offense has to get better and control the ball more, move the chains, etc.
Novel approaches of using other WRs not number 4, would help. So predictable.

Anyway.
keeping the vets from leading the units in snaps is a good thing.
Benton ( 49 ) and Harmon ( 48 ) had more snaps than Cam ( 43 ). Thats a good thing.
Yahya wth among DL with 16.

TJs snaps probably a bit low since he was out of game in 4th. Midway?

Wedding yesterday, and a wake.
Another wake on Wednesday and another Wedding Thursday nite.
2 weddings, 2 wakes, 5 days.

Missing 2 games in a row.

Those snap counts are kind of misleading. Steelers won TOP by nearly 4 minutes.

Sorry to hear about your two wakes in 5 days.

As far as snap counts go, I fully believe Muuuth should be and will be traded. Herbig certainly needs more snaps. Highsmith should prob be counting his days. I can’t remember how long he’s here on his current contract but I have to believe Herbig, TJ and Alex have this year, maybe next together but I can see Alex also not with us.

If the Steelers do make a trade it be with a player being moved not draft capital

If you understand they are Super Bowl or Bust this season, if you listen to Mike Tomlin blast an intra divisional trade because he can't understand making a deal that lessens your chances of winning your division (even when you're 1-4)... they're not trading away anybody. They are more likely to add players at the deadline.

Yeah.. I don’t see Muuth being moved.. at least not for a draft pick. I could maybe envision a swap for player at a position of need. Hard to see a fit though currently.

Going into Sunday's game, the only Steeler WRs with more than one catch were Metcalf and Austin.

And if they bring in a hypothetical #2 WR,
How much action does anyone really thing will be game planned in.

Will Austin be back Thursday?

You’re probably right. My concern is if Metcalf goes down we have zilch to cover #1 WR role. I liked seeing the OLB rotation. I guess we go jumbo if our #1 wr goes down. Was actually surprised they split up reps like they did. Also worried about a trap game coming. Or a string of games where just start taking losses.

After the game on Sunday, Cowher talked about how he liked the way their depth allowed them to spread around the workload. He mentioned how in past years Tomlin wore out his best players and they were injured or worn out by the playoffs.

I remember well Tomlin talking about running the wheels off RB 1 and then getting them injured late in the season (think the Ben Tate fiasco vs the Ravens... ugh)

I still think the ugly Tomlin playoff history has more to do with " We do what we do " but it would be nice to see a playoff lineup that didn't include multiple scrap heap starters.

It's important to remember that the Steelers defense always looks fresh and dynamic early in the season. They (and especially Watt) have looked worn down later in the year.

At least they have better depth all around on the D so that should help.

A less anemic offense that can hold on to the ball longer should also help.

Depth is a strength of the team on defense right now. 82 plays is a lot of plays, but Pittsburgh has a lot of players who are capable of performing at a high level.

Nick Herbig's emergence as a top pass rushing threat is helping everyone on the front 7, especially the other OLBs. Less wear and tear from double / triple teams on Watt; less wear and tear on Highsmith, as well. Ideally all of those blood hounds will still be fresh and in good health later in the season.

Nothing that you quoted is incorrect. Personnel wise the Steelers D is significantly better with more depth than last year. Whether the scheme takes advantage of that is another issue.
