Bye week is Omar Time

Post by steelmann58 » Wed Oct 01, 2025 1:50 am

I totally believe with the steelers off to an 3-1 record and the Injuries to Cinny and the Ravens this looks like the time for him to fill that important Number 2 WR especially with some teams off to a horrible start. Check in on the Jets Lazard? NO Olave TEX maybe look in Kirk. or Chi Moore or the big one AJ from the eagles
the steelers might be willing to move Pat or Highsmith which should be enough without having to trade 2026 picks

No on Lazard, yes on the others you mentioned; although you have to wonder what the price would be, the market has to be tight with all of the injuries to wide-outs, such as Naybors and Hill.

Good points^^^^^

I’d be comfortable trading both mentioned above. Muuuuth and Highsmih. I’d actually trade Muuuuth 1st. Keep Highsmith for depth over Muth Incase of injuries. Or get two players and trade em both. I’d still be good.

Wr2 and either a tackle or DB

They aren't trading Highsmith in season. I hammer him almost daily and I DO think they'll trade him after this season is over but the Steelers are one injury from being very fucked at OLB.

Highsmith is an underachiever for sure, but he will have his 3 or 4 big games per year and right now he's too valuable to move.

If the Steelers can find someone to take on Muth's contract, they will trade him fast as fuck. Sure, they'd love to put Muth in a package to help land Chris Olave or Jakobi Meyers, but I think they'd even take a 4th rounder for Fry Daddy at this point.

There won't be any trades of significance happening. People need to temper their expectations.
It's only week 5. Most teams still believe they have a shot at the playoffs and they won't give up contributing players, even at a premium price.

I'll be shocked if there are any trades the Steelers make.

I think we think the WR2 position is more important than the Steelers do. Maybe Rodgers' input changes that math, but I wouldn't bet the farm. Also, as previously mentioned, prices are going up as MUCH more important players (Nabers, to name one) are getting hurt and potential candidates (T. Hill) are coming off the board.

They also like Muth way more than the average Furian does.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

There's no question Omar is working the phones in regard to a WR2. If he isn't, that's a dereliction of duty.

We all know I'm a big Roman Wilson fan but the Steelers do not trust him. Calvin Austin is one helluva player, but he might best be suited for a WR3 role (I believe Austin would be up there with the best WR3's in the league) and CAIII is gonna miss some time. Both Chris Olave's Saints and Jakobi Meyer's Raiders are already out of the playoff hunt. That's not an exaggeration.

Those teams should be looking to unload players right now, especially the Raiders and Meyers would be a perfect fit in Pittsburgh. Olave's the better player but Meyers might be the better fit and right now, the Steelers desperately need a WR2 who might be able to step into a WR1 role for a few weeks if anything happens to DK.

I disagree that no trades will happen. No way Omar Khan is standing pat with this receiver room. We saw how that worked last year when Pickens was our lone threat. Will Khan definitely be able to pull off a deal? No idea but I'd bet my left nut he's trying and trying hard.

If anything happens to DK, we instantly go from one of the worst offenses to THE worst defense

Agree w Jakobi….that would be a great addition if at the right price

Olave is sweet but you’re rolling the dice w his concussion history

Speaking of Roman Wilson, he looked amazing recovering the onside kick. Displayed amazing eye/hand and showed why he is a big part of the “hands” personnel. Hopefully his two targets and one catch for 7 yards is just the beginning for this preseason wizard.

This isn't a defense of Roman Wilson who hasn't shown anything in games that matter, but while I thought he could carve out a niche in Arthur Smith's offense, because Roman was amazing at finding holes in zones at Michigan, Smith's offense seems to be constructed for very few guys to shine in the receiving game.

Freiermuth is struggling to get snaps. Darnell Washington should be unstoppable, especially in the red zone, but he and Spencer Anderson are being used almost exclusively as extra offensive tackles. I'm proud of Calvin Austin for carving out an important role in Arthur Smith's offense which seems hard for receivers not named DK Metcalf and Jonnu Smith to do.

All the other receivers except those 2 guys seem to be pretty interchangeable. Maybe that's why the Steelers might not be in a panic losing Calvin Austin for at least a few games. They might feel like Skowronek can continue making a play here and there like he has been (Skowronek is an underrated player) and they might very well believe that Roman might be able to do the same thing. Roman could get 2 or 3 targets per game now (CAIII might get 5 targets or less per game. Skowronek, Roman and Scotty Miller, at least in Arthur Smith's mind, could conceivably pick up the slack.)

While I'd like to see the Steelers add a Chris Olave or Jakobi, but let's remember what happened with Mike Williams last season. Despite needing a WR2 in the worst way, Mike Williams saw very, very few targets.

WR's simply aren't all that important to Arthur Smith.

The last line seems correct but is a big mistake for them
