Tomlin - Company Man

Post by CKSteeler » Wed Oct 22, 2025 3:05 pm

Asked during Tuesday’s weekly press conference whether he has concerns about the quality of the field at Acrisure Stadium, Tomlin steered clear of saying anything that would reflect poorly on the organization that is ultimately responsible for the football workplace.

“Not from my perspective, man,” Tomlin said. “I am not a grass expert. I haven’t cut my grass in a long, long time. I coach football. I’m gonna stay in my lane. I don’t even know who cuts my grass.”
Can I link to PFT here? Anyway it was relayed via news aggregator Florio who actually takes some jabs at Tomlin for towing the company line.

But he does not that every blade of grass needs to be cut....if in fact the goal is to defend every blade of glass.

Our buffoon head coach mentioned the 2 interceptions and rush defense but deflected when asked about the secondary. He doesn't see any issues.

His arrogance and stupidity are off the charts.

Why would Jibbs complain about the field. As soon as he saw it all tore up he breathed a sigh of relief knowing he has fewer blades of grass to defend.

His idiot defense just took that too far and ended up defending no blade of grass.

If you will.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 81 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

The Steelers are a corporate machine, diseased from the top with corporate bullshit. Coach plays his role well. It's all about appearances. That's what those stupid fucking winning seasons are, appearances...but are limitations...limitations.

They have the media to run cover for the buffoonery and stupidity that everyone can see.

TJ jogging and lollygagging like an old washed up bum? No mention of it anywhere. Field torn to shreds, after how many years of Pitt not having it's own goddamn stadium? This isn't the first time it's come up.

Pitt's been building big time up on Cardiac Hill but nothing for football.

this is accurate

I have come around to ... as an Organization they simply dont care about championship football and they dont really care about the previous Steelers brand that was built over decades.
They are Nutting with the cover of NHALS ... very happy to keep sopping up league/tv money
I guess they arent alone

i hate that i have gotten this negatve about the team but i just dont see any hope and we are watching re-runs for a decade

This org is FAR more worried about having a bad season than they care to have a championship one.

I never thought I’d get to this point but I literally couldn’t care less anymore if they lose.

In fact, I enjoy it more when they do. Especially when it’s in an embarrassing fashion that shines a bright light on Jibb failure as a coach.

Losses are more enjoyable than wins. Wins over the Justin Fields Jets aren't things to get all happy about.

Seeing Coach run off the field not congratulating Joe Flacco while puffing himself up about how tough he is...that's hilarious.

It's a really unlikable mess, but they want this. It works for them, they still sell shit, Coach's cunt wife has a shop in the strip that probably does good biz selling his schlocky sayings.

Can I get an apron with one of his sayings at her store?

Buy more crap.

This is true.

HOWEVER, it's more nuanced than that. Tomlin, Deuce and Colbert have ALL said the playoffs are a lottery ticket. In other words, Tomlin jedi mind-fucked them all that his job is just to make the playoffs and then it's all chance.

I'd point out, even if that were true, making the playoffs a little less than every other year is about what you'd expect from an average coach when 7 out of 16 make the playoffs.

But you're correct - Deuce would rather have an average coach than risk landing a bad one. So long as the media continues to put the most overrated coach in all of sports history on a pedestal, Deuce is enabled in that thinking.

And I've long held the view that Tomlin isn't actually even an average coach, but has been fortunate with above average talent. He had heavy training wheels on when he won that SB. By the 2nd he was asserting himself and chose to "ease in". And we all know the rest of the story.

I know I've said it far too often-

but Rooney isn't going to gaf until the stands are empty.

He's going to do exactly whatever he thinks is the safest, most conservative path. The "play not to lose" way.

Add to it, if a penny can be saved, he's on it.

It's hard to fathom we are at a place where I hope he sells the team, but I know that wont happen.

Art is the problem. Tomlin and all things related to him, are the symptoms.

Gosh does he check with her before unleashing his stupid sayings? What will move the most shirts?

I can see it.

Can I get Coach Mike sunglasses too? I would love them.

Do you suppose Tomlin talks to his family the same way he does the media?

“Dad? Can you help me with my homework?” “ Dino, I can’t give you all the ingredients to the hot dog…you might not like it.”

“Make love to me Mike” “I will unleash hell on your vagina after I paint the barn red…obviously.”

Even worse. The idiot's takeaway from that game was "offense was too risk seeking." This despite the offense not giving the Bengals any short fields. The offense put up a lot of points without any TOs from the Bengals. Fuck Tomlin.

Narduzzi, the coach of Pitt, says that he regrets not telling Tomlin that the Pitt game left the field shot.

What the hell was Tomlin going to do? Or anyone, for that matter? It takes days to resodd as I understand it, and it isn't like Tomlin can personally order that. There's a grounds crew in charge of maintaining the field. I'm fairly certain they knew it was a fucking disgrace before the Steelers game, but couldn't really do much.

There's just too many games played on the field.

I have been singing that song for a long time now -- he convinced them of this ... and only after being stomped 6 times straight has there been even a sniff that maybe what he sold is bullshit and/or there is more too winning playoff games than luck. But, I fear now he tricked them again into believing that what he said still holds true he just needs some more vets to execute the Plan. Dont look behind the curtain though please and ask about stale Plans, bad assistant coaches, lack of player development or that the EXACT same thing has happened for over a decade

you all knew he was going to blame the to INTs and ignore the rest.
because it absolves him and helps him re-establish what he wants to do ... TOP, attrition, 9-8, coin flip football ...
