I just saw this, Meyer and Mikey will have him ruined in a year, don't worry, LOL...I have to say the O-Line has looked better the last few games, they have opened some holes and don't make any dumb presnap penalties.

Don't think I caught that one live (watching on mute, on an anti-announcer kick, so I miss a few things when I multi-task), but damn, that's impressive!

Buckner is a beast too.

Probably hasn’t been pancaked like that in a loooooooong time.

The O line as a whole is playing pretty good right now. Broderick has even been decent.

Amazing that a prospect that comes in with good technique is able to contribute quickly. Lots of pearl clutching in Jone's 3rd season vs Troy's (basically) 1st season.

I'm not a fan of drafting Oline prospects that are boom/bust like B. Jones when it is too easy to find technically sound prospects that have a much higher floor.

Still kinda think Fautanu is a All-Pro guard in the future. Even on the Buckner pancake, TF had Anderson lined up outside him and caught Buckner trying to twist inside. I think Fautanu *can* be great at OT, but he *might* be better inside. But, play the best 5 always.

P.S.: I will continue to hate the using extra OL as TE formations. Okay, fun gimmick for a play or two per game, but it's asinine in the long run.

Our sets and formations continue to bring 11 defenders closer to the LOS, packing in defenders, 8-9 in the box.

Only the Steelers put their slowest players in motion.........
Anderson, Darnell and Mooth...........
Any defenders panic? Defenses scrambling and shifting?

Can we let Austin and Roman go in motion, create some space a the LOS, be moving full speed at the snap?
I would think the speed of these guys will create a little more movement, back peddling, passing off assignments......confusion or missed assignments.

Sorry for being a debbie downer, but shouldn't this be the expectation for almost all first round OL?

It is, but we are scarred by Broderick. Btw, Broderick has been SLIGHTLY better but we are talking about going from the worst LT in football to the bottom 15%.

Go back and watch yesterday. He's still lunging. He's still being beaten to the inside. He's still sloppy in the use of his hands. All that shit hasn't been corrected and hurts him. If Rodgers doesn't get the ball out quickly Broderick would give up 3 sacks a game or more.

That might cause an unfair advantage and against Steeler football

So still the same shit he was doing coming from Georgia?

They likely don’t do it because it fools our defense in practice.

And by the time they figure it out, our 52 year old DBs can’t catch up.

Yep. And will never get fixed till he’s on another team where he will blossom into an all-pro.

I'm one of this coaching staff's biggest critics, but even I'm unsure if Broderick can learn anywhere. He just may be that dumb or lazy. It's hard to believe he learned nothing since Georgia. Frazier, Mason, and Fautanu seem to be getting it. Why is he the outlier in a bad way?

I think he has learned something since his college days but he came in very raw so he is learning some techniques to survive but not fixing his bad habbits. How much is on him vs Meyers? I do not know.

That's a quality explosive NFL block right there from Troy Fautanu. "Stay away from my quarterback!"

If Jones keeps improving then we are a LG away from having a decade of cohesion and growth going forward. Of course the D will have aged out. So we have that to look forward to.

That is fine to hate it but it stresses the edge of the D.

B. Jones + Anderson + Washington on the edge is over a half ton between 3 people. Edge defenders are not capable of dealing with that for sustained periods of time.

Jerry Rice probably caught 1/4 of his TDs doing that motion and just running a 3 yard route towards the pylon from that motion.

Just for some perspective - Jones is younger than Fautanu. So maybe just maybe he is still growing.

They ought to be bringing in a goal line defense's worth of interior DL against that formation. Why would you have an EDGE vs Spencer Anderson? Bring in a DT.

Yeah, then you split Washington out or move to the slot and he is a mismatch by size or by speed. Now the D has to stretch horizontally. That makes the big bodies responsible for more side to side.

It would be better without Anderson and we could go big with TEs and shift to pass formations. DK, Wash, Muuth, Warren, & Jonnu. They either outsize the DBs or out speed LBs.

Yes, but that is very different from Tackle Eligible. Washington is the only 300llb eligible you need to worry about it. A DT can cover Anderson. Go to a goal line defense.

They were talking about it on the pregame radio. If he checks in as eligible for a play he has to leave the game for at least a play to check back in as ineligible. So you would be rotating LG non stop. They may take one of the other backup linemen and use them as the corned beef package or whatever the nickname of the week is.
