- Aaron Rogers still has something and has avoided being about things other than winning football games. At this point if the Steelers squeezed him for another year or two it would be difficult to bitch assuming he doesn’t hit a wall
- The rest of the offense has mostly been sub par to slightly better than mediocre. Metcalf and Washington have shown they can excel in less than ideal conditions. Everyone else has kinda been what we expected. Occasionally maybe making a play but mostly constrained by a sub par offensive approach and lacking the personal ability to play above that beyond occasional flashes
- The defense has mostly sucked. Injuries have played a role. Poor defensive scheme has played a bigger role. Beyond both of those lack of heart, effort, and commitment has been the biggest issue. The Steelers defense is loaded with somewhat talented players. Most of them play like pussies collecting a paycheck most of the time. That combined with dumb lazy and predictable coaching and scheme has consistently been a foreboding harbinger when evaluating this defense
- Special teams has done well. Particularly Boswell. Yay !! The Steelers special teams are better than the rest of the team. Great.
- The Steelers are coached by predictable and average minds. Many of them would be hard pressed to land comparable jobs in the NFL longterm
- The Steelers FO and ownership feel zero pressure to provide a better product or compete legitimately for a championship. No one has any real expectation that will change in the next decade
- Traditionally ALL of the Steelers championship greatness has come from QBs who are among the 5 or so best ever to play the game. No one has any reason to believe that’s going to change anytime soon and if it went on like that for 20 years + no one would have any historical reason to expect better
