The scene at the draft could be a disaster
Imagine the scene. Tomlin is still coach. The year ends the way it looks like it's going to end.
Rooney's baby. The showcase for the Steelers, the city, etc..... Something they have worked towards for years. All the construction. All the build-up.
ESPN, ABC, NFL NETWORK....... Worldwide audience. More often than not the host city has the most fans in attendance.
Tomlin is there or his face goes up on the big screen. Or Rooney is there or they show him.
You start to hear the groundswell of chanting an it gets louder and louder...........Fire Tomlin!!! Sell the team!!!!!

Great point!
I hope this finds Rooney when he isn’t drunk and asleep at his desk

This doesn’t sound like a disaster to me.
Art the Lessor deserves every bit of scorn. If he is dumb enough to retain the Arrogant Fraud, he should be embarrassed in front of the football world.
I would suspect, though that TPTB will work their magic and not a single boo will be heard.

Mike Tomlin and NHALS - The embodiment of the soft bigotry of lowered expectations.
Tomlin is done after this year.

I’m planning a gathering for the draft. If Tomlin is still the coach you can 100% guarantee there will be Fire Tomlin chants and signs.rooneytunes wrote: ↑Mon Dec 01, 2025 8:15 pmImagine the scene. Tomlin is still coach. The year ends the way it looks like it's going to end.

Yeah the draft could play out a few different ways.
Nothing short of a convincing playoff win or 3 will save Tomlin from being booed for the rest of his tenure as Steelers head coach.
That can has been opened.
We've all read how much Deuce wanted the draft to be held in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA.
He wants those accolades.
How he's the 3rd Rooney in charge of a family built franchise.
ESPN pundits throwing him bouquets for NHALS and the Rooney Rule.
Most of all, he wants a prime-time audience to hear how the Steelers are the most stable franchise in the NFL having only 3 coaches in 50+ years. How HIS guy Tomlin is the longest tenured coach in all of professional sports.
NONE of that will hit home for Art if half a million yinzers are chanting "FIRE TOMLIN!"
WORSE
WHAT IF he Deuce, gets the Bob NUTTING experience???
Pat McAfee will be in his hometown for the draft.
One word out of his mouth about Skenes or the Pirates sends the yinzers on hand into a "SELL THE TEAM!" frenzy.
Oh I knoooow it would take a lot more embarrassing losses like the one you all witnessed against Buffalo to get yinzer nation to turn on the Rooney name, but fans FINALLLY launched their "FIRE TOMLIN!" vitriol. When Art fails to fire Tomlin (and he will epically fail) I THINK there's a shot the masses will turn on Art and the Rooneys.
YES
Imagine if you will the most attended draft in NFL History. Perhaps close to a MILLION NFL fans ((Buffalo and Cleveland proximity) gathered in dahnTahn Pittsburgh for the first night of the draft.
Art with his Steely McBeam hat on and at the first mention of the Pittsburgh Steelers the crowd erupts into their "FIRE TOMLIN!" chant followed by a "SELL THE TEAM!" Chant.
DISASTER
Not for me.
Not for you.
But for Rooney
And yes YOUR beloved city.
Now if you're still reading hang in there.
What if Art has played out that scenario in his barely lucid mind?
Wouldn't it behoove him to take the months leading up to the draft as the PERFECT opportunity to reset the Steelers' organization?
Hell no I don't know what Tomlin's exit strategy would be, but the booing and chanting HAS TO resonate.
So in February, Art ditches Tomlin.
He announces son Dan as new President of the Steelers.
Then the draft...held in Pittsburgh...is the jumping off point for a NEW ERA in Steelers football.
Art still gets his much wanted accolades for NHALS and stability in front of a national audience
DAN and his hand picked head coach get to embark on their dynasty as hometown HEROES.
CHEERS
Instead of
JEERS
A twisted, bitter part of me is rooting for the unrest and chaos of boos and "FIRE TOMLIN!" "SELL THE TEAM!" chants, but the more rational, proud Pittsburgher in me HOPES that the draft is a positive experience for the city and it's loyal Steelers' fans.
Which ever way it goes...
... it won't be boring.
