He's had issues in Dallas with things like showing up where he is supposed to b e, but Dallas can live with that because he's talented. I'm willing to guess that Pittsburgh could have lived with it, too, if he didn't show up like 50% of the time on the field for them. If they had Roethlisberger in his prime, things would probably have been very different for Pickens in Pittsburgh but that wasn't meant to be.
But Roethlisberger wasn't walking through that door again and there wasn't anything even close so the guy was going to spend just as much time moping and acting out as he was making plays and that's being generous after what we've seen this year.
Many coaches and teams won't put up with this and they don't have a QB who can deliver. I suspect Dallas will franchise him. We'll see how that goes because he's already stated he doesn't want that. But if left to his own devices and that of his agent, I don't expect him to be smart and pick the best environment for himself. I still think he washes out of the league. There's only a handful of fits for him in the NFL.
But yea Pickens is going to want to be paid, he has the same agent as Micah Parsons, and Jerry Jones "unconventional" (read bullshit) negotiating style will make things interesting.
It very well may not even work for him in Dallas after this year given the way Jones operates. He likes to string even his stars along.
EDIT-it should also be noted that Pickens' antics in Pittsburgh were just as likely to lose them a game as his playmaking seemed to be. He's had those issues in Dallas, but they have a QB who can deliver him the ball to make up for it.

"We, as an offensive collective were off today, and certainly, he's a component of that,"
they have a coach who isn’t afraid to score points and understands the value of a dynamic offense. Additionally, that coach recognizes that the rules have changed and the game has evolved post 1960

Anyway, Steelers need a cultural change as much as a HC change (and the two absolutely are related). You just don't make a clown like Pickens part of your core when you need a cultural revolution.
And, frankly, if they do move on to a new HC guys like TJ and Cam have to go. This team needs scrubbed and disinfected of everything Tomlin.
I can't believe it.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 05, 2025 3:13 pmTaking a ton of heat this morning on ESPN this morning for lack of effort

That's the thing.
Nobody but nobody questions Pickens' talent. He could be a superstar....if he didn't have an Antonio Brown level, 10 cent head.
He's mentally ill. The Steelers have done a lot of things wrong the last 15 years or so, but trading Pickens isn't one of them.
I pray Dallas pays him the $35 million per year or so he's going to want, but even Jerrah isn't that stupid.
Someone will pay him though, like the Raiduhs.

If only Pickens could teach Jibbs, Arthur Smith, Conner Heyward, and the rest of our WR room (including that soft bitch Metcalf) to all disappear like he does.
We need to blow up this entire offense. DK’s contract is awful, rest of the WRs are JAGs, Arthur Smith blows, Conner Heyward still gets snaps, we pay Muth top TE money and not play him on and on and on.
Get rid of them all.

Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 88 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Of course Pickens' talent merits more than a 3rd round pick but all you had to do was watch last night's game and read this mornings comments to grasp why the move was made.
Ohhh a sick, twisted, part of me would've loved watching all the DK, Rodgers, and Pickens dysfunction trying to run Uncle Artie's Fed Ex offense
BUT
Whine all yinz want, the Steelers made the EASY, correct, decision.

It’s worse that we paid “Muuuuuth” $50 million just to sit on the bench.
People should be fired over that.
At least they’d be getting their monies worth WHEN Pickens decides he wants to participate.pray Dallas pays him the $35 million per year or so he's going to want, but even Jerrah isn't that stupid.
