Crazy AFC Super Bowl QB Stat

With Mahomes and the Chiefs out, this year for only the 4th time since 2001, the AFC QB won't be Brady, Mahomes, Peyton or Ben. Two of the other 3 got eliminated yesterday in Cincy (Flacco and Burrow), the other was Brad Johnson in 2002.
A similarly crazy stat is that this will be the first playoffs since 98 without Mahomes, Brady or Peyton.
Soooo is this the start of a new "lead" QB era in the AFC or the start of an NFC like run where only one QB (Warner) QBs the conference champ more than twice?

I hardly think Patrick Mahomes at age 30 is done making playoff runs. He didn't have very much around him this year or last year, even. The fact that he lifted them to all those close games that didn't go their way and the fact that they will get something like a top 10 draft slot while they still have Patrick... they will reload and be serious agin in no time.
Just imagine an offseason where they add a big time edge, a RB & WR is rounds 2-3, Isaiah Likely to replace Kelce, and a value buy CB or S.

It looks like the Chiefs will finish with a losing record. Andy Reid is going to get a chance to replenish the roster with some quality players in this draft and reload.
Poor Andy. I know he won’t have NHALS on his resume and he certainly can’t stack up to the coaching genius of Mediocre Mike, but I think he’ll be ok.
Thank god we haven’t had to suffer like Chief fans.

Did you ask those same fans what their thoughts of Mike Tomlin are?
Steelers fans have been beyond patient with Tomlin. Wanting to dump Reid a year after a Super Bowl loss and after they've won repeatedly prior to that is just absurd.
But we live in a world where it was ok to fire Belichick after two down seasons after the greatest sustained run of success in American sports history, so...
They tell us that Tomlin has done enough to decide when he leaves the Steelers. How it is and should be. But fuck Andy Reid and Belichick who accomplished exponentially more.

Will the media defend Reid as vociferously as they have defended Tomlin? Will he be "snapped up in a second" if the Chiefs fire him?
To the question about changing of the guard, I think unfortunately it's just an "adding" of the guard. Maye and Herbert are playing at the level where you can see comparing them to Mahomes, Allen, Burrow and Jackson. Well, we all know Jackson will shit the bed when it matters, but we'll include him in here because he can blow out NFC teams in November.

Brad Johnson started for the NFC Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Rich Gannon was the starter for the AFC Champion Raiders that year.

I think the underlying meaning here is that the NFL loves their familiar face, QB stud that people want to watch. No one wants to watch some no name, young QBs who might be good but no one knows who they are. With Mahomes, Brady, Peyton, etc. out of it who is left from that era...
Pack your bags fellas! We are going to Santa Clara!
Ok...its a stretch but the NFL loves a good story. Wouldn't it be great for a guy like Rodgers to win a Super Bowl with the Steelers and ride off into the sunset? Not to mention Tomlin gets another championship and then retires. Rodgers wins a championship with the two top franchises in the game and then retires...that's pretty cool I think. Sort of like Bettis coming back for one more season and retiring at the Super Bowl.

Yea that 50 year SB drought was pretty long for the Chiefs 1969 to 2019. The Steelers drought was only 40years and currently 15years. Something like that.
