Excuses

Post by Stlcrtn1974 » Mon Dec 29, 2025 2:49 pm

That's all I am hearing from the Fan in Pittsburgh. Injuries and Metcalf being the main reason for the loss, followed by Arther Smith and Rodgers.

Kaboly saying if they lose to Baltimore, Metcalf will be blamed for years for this collapse. Also said Tomlin will be back next year, if they lose.

This has to be one of the strangest sporting situations in the world, I can't imagine any coach from any sport surviving this garbage product.

Kaboly is a Tomlin nut guzzler. He loves Mediocre Mike.

He also is an overweight, overpaid Steelers apologist.

I can’t stand that fat fuck.

There are so many of these people brainwashed, hopeless and that includes saps like Kaboly. It must be put on Tomlin, there excuse is the league and NFL didn't alert them to this fan from last years dust up with DK. Sorry that is a teenager with my dog ate my homework shit.

These people are unserious about everything in their daily lives. Afraid to step out of the NPC grey drone of themselves to live their bests lives.

Since the Art the Lessor championed the DEI push with the NFL back in 2008, the results the past 10 years are a complete disaster. They do not care though, the money, the money, the money. Art should be made pariah in the Burgh, he is a disgrace.

Garbage cans at Acrid Stadium should be set ablaze after the predictable loss that is coming next Sunday night.

As i said in a different post, i was afraid the Metcalf situation and injuries were going to give Tomlin cover to survive. Altho if we;re being honest with ourselves, we all know deep down Tomlin isnt going anywhere until he decides hes had enough here. Maybe an entire game of Fire Tomlin chants embarasses him enough to step down.

Eventually, all that matters is results. After nearly 10 years of not even being competitive in the playoffs, there can be no excuses.

Mediocre Mike is exactly that. He would have been out of the league as a HC after 5-6 years if he hadn't inherited a SB team and staff from Cowher.

Most overrated coach in all of sports history. And the manufactured accolades to go with it. Who even knew they tracked "non-losing" seasons until a few years ago? But there really is no more perfect "record" to go with being a career mediocre coach.

I think the main reason Tomlin survives this season is Deuce won't want to eat $20M. To add insult to injury, maybe Tomlin will add Dino to the staff next year. He can teach all the young guys how to work Tik Tok (and maybe bring in JuJu as a consultant).

Maybe, if we're lucky, some desperate team will want to trade for Tomlin. But I think that ship sailed with CHI. Can't imagine anyone with a contender wanting him, and Tomlin will never take on a rebuild.

So we're going to waste all those draft picks on the vaunted picker of horseflesh just to avoid eating $20M.

Tomlin inherited a Rolls Royce and is going to leave behind a dumpster fire.

The Dakaylin excuse will be the one that sticks because there's a racial component attached to it (heaven forbid we let a dude wearing a blue wig rattle us IN THE MIDDLE OF AN NFL FOOTBALL GAME)

DK is the victim of an attack on his color and creed therefore Tomlin was also attacked.

All that said, I don't think Tomlin even needs an excuse

No I believe I read a post after my evening beverage that said Tomlin wants Noll's franchise record for wins.

Not sure which posters live in and around Pittsburgh, but whats the Tomlin vibe in and around the city. Is there a palpable feel of the end of the Tomlin era maybe/possibly becoming a reality or does Tomlin still have a firm grasp on the fanbase in Pittsburgh?

I don’t understand how so many people can parrot this stuff. A guy deserves an excuse once or maybe even twice. But when it is the same excuse year after year then clearly the guy in charge of it all is the problem.

someone called the fan last night and brought up the Russ Grimm hiring (before the late in the game finalist Tomlin) - person said to have spoken to Grimm about this later on and admitted it. Goodell called Rooney and asked to hire Tomlin and the whole Rooney rule BS - Grimm did say that he was offered the job and said yes, then the whole switcheroo happened. Dan was adamant that this didn't occur, but when people say otherwise, you can always side and narrative with the $$ Rooney's - Gamling, Racetracks, $$, Dishonest? HA, what about the Arians BS, I think we hold them up too high. I think they should sell the team.

https://archive.triblive.com/news/roone ... ed-tomlin/
Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney strongly denied the team told assistant head coach Russ Grimm he would be Bill Cowher's successor, then changed its mind and hired Mike Tomlin.

Tomlin, the former Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator, didn't learn he was the Steelers' choice until team president Art Rooney II phoned him Sunday afternoon. The call came more than a day after SI.com and, later, ESPN reported the Steelers had selected Tomlin as only their third coach since 1969.

Adding to the who's-the-coach confusion was the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's front-page headline Sunday that Grimm — widely considered in Pittsburgh to be the front-runner — would be announced Monday as the Steelers' coach.

Dan Rooney was upset with suggestions the Steelers offered the job to one person, rescinded it and hired someone else. He also denied anyone in the organization told Grimm he would be the coach.

"They were ... saying we were dishonest," Rooney said in an impromptu interview following Tomlin's news conference Monday. "Our integrity means more than anything to us. It means more than anything."

Dan Rooney also said the possibly premature reports Saturday that Tomlin had been selected didn't influence the Steelers' decision.

"We said all along that we were going to follow a process and the process was what was going to come," Rooney said.

Tomlin began to feel nervous Sunday when he hadn't heard anything from the Steelers, and wondered if the stories had hurt his chances.

"But it wasn't confusing for me," he said. "The Rooneys were very upfront about the process — where it was going and how it was going. At times I thought some of the reports, the false reports, were comical. It wasn't necessarily funny when they weren't going in my favor, but, you know, it's part of the process. I understand that."

Tomlin, Grimm and Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera were identified Jan. 15 by the Steelers as their three finalists — even though they knew they couldn't hold a second interview with Rivera until this week at the earliest. Rivera never did get a second interview.

"He (Tomlin) probably was a long shot when we began our discussions," Art Rooney II said.

Director of football operations Kevin Colbert wouldn't say why Tomlin was chosen over Grimm, who was a Chicago Bears finalist three years ago. Grimm, the offensive line coach, was promoted to assistant head coach after he stayed with the Steelers and didn't join the Bears.

"I think, again, we want to talk about Mike," Colbert said. "It was obvious when we made the choice that we were all very comfortable and we're happy he's here."

The Steelers ended up choosing neither of the two favorites when Cowher resigned on Jan. 5, former offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt and Grimm. Whisenhunt became the Arizona Cardinals' coach on Jan. 14 without learning if the Steelers would have promoted him.

The results are the same; only the names that change, when it comes to placing the blame.

What’s interesting is Two names that have stayed the same over the entirety of these all too common results. Rooney and Tomlin.

What blows my mind are the idiotic fans, mainly on FB Steeler pages who absolutely think any criticism of Tomlin is rooted in racism.

Now granted the majority of fans saying that are black themselves….

The NFL would not have suspended a black man that plays for a black coach and if they had a single shred of evidence the blue haired man used racial slurs.

Tomlin ain’t getting the blame for this.

Difference makers all over the team are sidelined. That will be the narrative.
Those that don’t blame Jibba for this need to look at where SF is right now after suffering many more key injuries than we did.

DK being out isn’t why we lost yesterday. We lost that game in the offseason when Jibba and the “Khan Artist” thought the gaggle of scrubs they collected behind Metcalf comprised a legit WR unit.

I generally like what Kahn has done but missing out on a #2 WR two years in a row is fireable negligence

I really don’t think it’s the money. It’s the image of a DEI hire being canned by an owner who shares the same last name that the rule that got him hired is named for.. in a league that still paints woke slogans in their end zones, the optics couldn’t be worse for White Guilt Rooney.
someone called the fan last night and brought up the Russ Grimm hiring (before the late in the game finalist Tomlin) - person said to have spoken to Grimm about this later on and admitted it.

I hope someday someone writes a book on the entire Tomlin timeline.

The lies have been thick and heavy for 2 decades. I don’t know if there was a phone call from Goodell, but it wouldn’t surprise me. Something happened at the 11th hour, and I personally know that Grimm was offered the job. How? I went to school with and am still friends with someone who was offered a position on Grimm’s staff.

Maybe I’ll write that book.

I know the Tomlin Reign has been bizarre
But I can’t believe if they lose next weekend after
Another collapse
Another big game loss
Same old stale plan
being given his bevy of shitty Vets
With the draft in Pittsburgh
And no QB (aside from a 43yr old jackoff afraid of being hit in the cold)

That there isn’t serious talk that he needs to step down gracefully

You left out the league's highest paid defense and "the schemes and players to be HISTORIC". For a defensive coach, that's simply gross negligence.

You should, so much of the NFL downfall is tied to that stupid coach rule. Maybe it was to help things, but the one person albatross is still there now that the said rule is 'retired' Tomlin needs to be retired too
