AR slide

I don't think anyone's mentioned this… But that fourth one would have been easily avoided if AR simply dives forward for the first down rather than slide and have the ball spotted short of the line of gain. I know that happens all the time, but that game those stakes, Aaron, smartest guy in the room should havepick up the first town.

Scared not even the right the word for it.
Dude was flat out paranoid.
If a Browns defender so much as touched him, Rodgers quickly spun around WIDE EYED...noooo...EXTREMELY WIDE EYED... to see if it was Garrett who got to him.
I usually enjoy JJ Watt's appearance on McAfee, but for him to arrogantly sit there and proclaim the Steelers were simply doing what was necessary to eliminate the Browns best edge rusher is some next level bullshit.
I try to leave my tin foil hat at home when posting here, but I really do think Tomlin, Rodgers, and the Steelers were willing to take that loss if it meant Garrett went sackless.
But why???
Who gives a flying fadoodle fart if you're a footnote on a sack record.
WIN THE FUCKING GAME
Roger and the league are happy they have a primetime, week 18 game that actually means something but nobody outside of Baltimore wants to sit through the sequel of Derrick Henry running up and down crappy ass HEINZ field again.
I respect the totality of Aaron Rodgers' career.
Good quarterback
But like Tomlin, TWatt, and sCam, I look forward to the day he moves on with his life's work or just vanishes to a schroom filled forest in a land far, far away.

When you look at the replay, Rodgers would have gotten clocked pretty hard, so i won't get on him for this as much as I will the rest of his pussy ass play on the day.
Yes, John Elway is famous for his run where he got helicoptered in the Super Bowl, but a) that was the Super Bowl and b) QBs are bigger pussies today IMHO.
And the pussiness gets coached into them because of how valuable QBs are to teams.
Wait until they pussify Jaxson Dart...and they will.

They didn't do anything differently except Rodgers.
But, as someone else pointed out, they used Kenneth Gainwell to do most of the helping/chipping, which, on a day they were missing both DK and CAIII, they absolutely could not do, as Gainwell was the only consistent offensive threat they really had.
DK/CAIII being out should have caused them to change their mindset, and it didn't.

Has anyone considered TJ currently co-owns that record? It's not beyond Tomlin to put a win at risk for a personal accolade...

I put NOTHING past Mike Tomlin
If TWatt was sole owner of that sack record?
Maybeee
But what does Tomlin owe TWatt?
TWatt has won ZERO playoff games
Is this a thank you payment for helping secure NHALS year after (long) year?
Is this some sort of hush money?
Like “Hey TWatt, I know that you know I’m a gawd awful football coach but if we could just keep that between us I’d sure appreciate it…”
Nope can’t convince me otherwise
Tomlin and Rodgers blew that game to keep Garrett sackless
Rodgers receivers are JV if you will, but to go out and embarrass your team on National TV against a 3 win team in a MUST WIN game is next level bullshit
Better not have been to protect TWatts CO record
THAT makes that loss EXTRA EXTRA annoying
“Fire Tomlin!” Indeed

What’s to be expected when you have a 40+ year old QB playing for you.

Exactly.
It happened to Ben. Ben got to where he was absolutely terrified of getting hit, played absolutely scared, and went down way too easily. It's one of the reasons I was glad he retired when he did as it was obvious this team wasn't going anywhere and I didn't want him to soil his legacy as one of the toughest MFers to ever play QB in the league.
Rodgers has already done his job: he helped secure another season of NHALS. Nothing beyond that is expected or anticipated.

Yep
To accomplish NHALS with a subpar group of pass catchers, Broderick “protecting” his blindside while further handcuffed with Tomlin and Arthur Smith is quite the feat.
Now
“FIRE TOMLIN!”

You ass hats aren't going to agree, but I'm taking the same position with the Miles Garrett record as I am with the play calling based on an HALS. Much as I want tomm to go I think he's correct on they the way they usually play garret like in the first game. The big difference and this was brought up on the podcast is using Kenny G so frequently to be the guy who chipped Garrett. Garrett was so focused on the record that he was lining up outside the numbers, even if they gave him a free rush at Aaron and he doesn't get there in two seconds that Aaron needs to release the ball. Unfortunately, I think we are seeing and have seen the pussification of Aaron Rodgers.

I said this on the podcast--Gainwell is your leading receiver and, in a game where you were (rightfully) frightened into speeding up your mental clock at QB because of Myles Garrett, anybody chipping was pretty much automatically out of the play as a receiver. They should have had Conner Heyward or Skowronek or Jaylen Warren chip him all game. 2 WR 1 TE 2 RB

The rule was changed (2018 according to Google) ago to emphasize that a diving player who is clearly giving himself up has the same protections as a sliding player - can't hit him when he's on the ground.
Not saying he goes full Elway just yet, but this week AR may be a bit more aggressive and choose to dive rather than slide. Even if there's a risk for a bit of contact.

he knew as soon as he did it that he screwed up -- it happens
that said, i am not sure this version of AR is ever going to Give It Up to get the first down

Galaxy brain sequence:
- Rodgers slides a yard early
- Timeout
- No Tush Push. A formation designed specifically for this situation
- Rodgers chooses to throw to . . . checks notes . . . Scottie Miller down the sideline instead of an open Thielen right in front of him
The worst part? Going for it on 4th only makes sense if you have a play that gets you the yard 70+% of the time. Again, this is the whole point of the tush push. Turning down the FG to attempt for a low percentage play is just ridiculous on every level.
Nice work fellas
I could watch a 10 part documentary on the Steelers 2025 offense. Why no Muth? Who is Wilson sleeping with? Who is Rodgers yelling at? Why no Dylan Cook until everyone else was hurt? Did they care more about Garrett getting the sack record then playing good football? What's a Jonnu Smith and why is he playing? Who is Rodgers alluding to when he says players aren't going to meetings? Who decided that DK was less trouble than Pickens?

Yes, nearly 20 years his junior, but the Miami QB, Carson beck, shows how it's done last night on a crucial 3rd & 11, diving forward for a late 1st down. If he slides, OSU gets the ball back, down 3, several minutes left.

The excuse was that Washington was out and they need his big body to really execute the Tush Push successfully. Which to me is bullshit.
