SteelerFury.com Podcast Week 18: Ravens at Steelers

Post by smithessmokin » Tue Dec 30, 2025 3:03 am

The Steelers embarrassed themselves in Cleveland in a game that could have cemented themselves as AFC North Champions. Instead they played uninspiring football and allowed Shadeur Sanders and the Browns to steal a win that makes this game against the Ravens a true win or go home contest. Join your hosts Jeremy Kohlman, Wil Masisak and Korey Karbowsky as they discuss deliberate the Cleveland loss, discuss the looming matchup against the Ravens, and predict some playoff games including the college football playoff games in the last week of the regular season.

Excellent podcast this week… And maybe I'm the only one that listened to it all the way through, and not yet ready to slit my wrists as you guys have suggested. Interestingly, against both the ravens and Lions all three of you pick Steelers to lose, I predicted them to win. This week two of the three of you, with the exception of the oldest guy on the podcast are picking Steelers to win. Sorry, but I can't join you on that prediction. Very good points made about under utilizing Kenny G the whole game. I was hoping that with DK being out they would use Kenny G as a slot receiver for much of the game, but that didn't happen. This week, the one guy that I think maybe got one mention on the podcast was CA III. In my optimistic prediction is that with his speed anyway he takes the top off the ravens defense and Aaron is able to hit him for a long touchdown like a 60 yard or so, which might give the Steelers almost half of the points that they might need. You guys went through a lot of defensive configure configurations, Tomlin already been on record is saying they're not gonna be doing much different this week defensively. I'm with Smithy smoking with the need to get Henry running east west and fuck these guys being afraid of hitting him at the knees will he got hit this guy low Knees are lower. So combination of all of our defensive guys being back including the guys in the secondary so maybe we're able to play Ramsey more at safety this week and maybe hitting a play or two offensively maybe getting the running game going some this ravens defense not being nearly as good as the Browns defense should give us some hope. I'm still not predicting a win though Good job on the podcast again.

Oh… Good job on the analysis of the fourth down pass to Valdez, Will, in that compromising errands capability to be looking for Kenny G out of the backfield. Then this statistical analysis of throwing nine balls to Valdez during the game and completing like two or three for 7 yards each. Like what the actual fuck! And lastly, with all the discussion in another OP about who's a dick and who's not, and probably all three of us arguing or dicks What kind of dick does Tomlin have to be after building up Roman Wilson at last week pressor and then only playing him nine snaps this game. The only guy available with any speed as a wide.

Great one. I haven’t listened to all of them this season but this was a 2 hour gem filled with great stuff.

Happy new year to you dudes. Here is to hoping a coaching change is on the horizon.

Oh… And unfortunately, and I hope you guys are right, I'm staying with my prediction that Tomlin signs that extension before summer

Thanks for the kind words, gents.

@swissvale72 I didn't mention CAIII or Pierre, for that matter, because I don't think it's certain they play and if they do it's likely they won't be 100%. However, if you have 100% CAIII aligned/isolated vs Marlon Humphrey and have time to sell a double move, you've got a chance to make a big play. However, I think the Ravens will try to get Wiggins on CA3... Better matchup for them. Humphrey on Freiermuth/Smith. Awuzie on whichever of the old guys lines up outside. Roquan vs Kenny G.

Steelers won't have to chip as much or at all and that should open up Kenny G for some looks.

Basically, according to the unwritten rules of major sport coaching, he either signs an extension, has his 2027 option picked up, retires, resigns, or is fired. The one thing that won't happen is for the Steelers to decline the 2027 option and bring him back as the HC for 2026. Major sports franchises never let their tenured coach go into a lame-duck season, which is what it would be if they don't pick up his option, at least.

The Steelers carve their own path as much, or more, than any other professional franchise. The next few weekends could certainly reshuffle the deck some. Presently, I'd be more surprised if they did pick up his option rather than not.

Awesome podcast.

B2B - I side with you on the Hurricanes. They have significant talent in the trenches this year. Maybe even more so on the offensive line than the defensive line.

Jeremy - Indiana is so complete on both sides of the ball. 'Bama doesn't seem to be quite the same level of CFB villain from years past. A match up with the Red Raiders might produce the best game of the CFP.

Korey - Excellent point about Derrick Henry. Athletes like him are playing along the D-line or at OLB - where the longevity and big C2's are if they make it to the next level.

Carson Beck has hardly proved himself as a big game QB. It'd be in the Steelers' best interest if he would though. Could push another guy down the board in April.

What really gets me about this is the Ravens have had more success in recent years than the Steelers have had.

But I think it's almost a lead pipe lock that if the Ravens lose on Sunday, Harbaugh is gone.

But we cannot say the same thing if the Steelers lose.
