Ex players on NFLN

I had to turn Carnell Lake off..lol..I get that they love the guy and he was probably a great HC to deal with on a personal level. All good. But they repeat the same media talking points and ignore the playoff record. "They'll find him hard to replace" "NHALS" "Stability is all"

Playoff wins and competing for a SB is all...That's the fucking standard and always has been until Rooney and Tomlin re-jigged it to NHALS.

Even my wife, who is a very casual fan, understood about the playoff results mattering far more..It seems a concept lost on the indoctrinated ex players. Or they feel, if they are AA, that they have to support a Black coach which I get to a point.

Nobody is going to go on national tv and dance on Tomlin’s grave. Interviewing these guys is useless.

Mike Tomlin's approach of pushing the chips in every year to achieve mediocrity has gotten a lot of players paid. That's the reality of it. That stability and lack of real accountability matters more to these entitled overpaid man children than anything.

If you were told you were going to get a new boss at work who was going to be a dick and you may be fired or lose money, but he was far better at his job, would you take him over the old reliable guy who took care of you but sucked? No, right?

We're talking about guys who could barely string a sentence together on a normal day.
They're automatons repeating the same thing over and over so that they dont sound like idiots by expressing their own thoughts.

THIS^

On the bright side that mentality is gone unless dunce decides he wants a 2.0 version.

I think deuce finally got the message from his Lifetime fans his head coach wasn’t cutting it.

Let them keep pumping him up until a team out there offers him the world and us a 1st round pick.

Ive always believed this too

No way he says what he wants until after he’s in.

I’ll bet my house Mike Tomlin does not introduce Ben to Canton.

Worse than the usual pundits and former players kissing Tomlins ass was Cowherd’s suggestion that the Steelers trade 6….thats SIX….draft picks to draft Bamas Ty Simpson.

He really said that

Straight Face

Brutal
Brutal
Take

The Steelers don’t have to be Kenny Pickett stupid anymore.

NHALS is dead

Use the draft as the backdrop to introduce your young exciting new coach AND hand Danny Rooney the keys to the franchise in front of half a million drunk screaming yinzers.

Then

Take your time

Exercise some patience

Let’s reset and build this the right way

6 picks for Ty Simpson

Shit off stupid

Ben has said he would go with his agent which on the surface sounds a bit lame, but speaks volumes about Tomlin to me.

I'd like to have whatever Mendenhall is smoking.....says Tomlin had subpar QB play in all but 1 of his 19 seasons, some of the comments are very good.

Won’t be Tomlin I agree. Could be someone closer like a Pouncey or another person of his choosing

As if Tomlin didn't have any control over the QB after Ben

Socrates Mendenhall strikes again

I mean, Tomlin gave Lake his start in coaching, a pretty cool opportunity for a very good and occasionally great Steeler whose playing career predated Tomlin's tenure with the team. I can see why he'd be emotional, and I can understand why he'd have good things to say. Nothing wrong with that.

Also, I wholly agree that if these former players speaking out on how great MT was nets us a draft pick, more power to them.

That is all on you, for listening to Cowherd in the first place.

Do you do it for the endorphin rush after you turn off the radio/broadcast?

I think this is pure fantasy. The guy has NO coaching tree, and barely even a track record of low-level assistants getting poached and promoted.

A team like CLE might be desperate to appease the fans. But my guess is the NFL opinion of Tomlin is actually pretty close to this board's.

Good to see you posting again, Slobber

I record Cowherd and nick wrights afternoon shows

About an hour before bed during the week I’ll pick one of those shows or McAfees YouTube recording to watch just to get some sports entertainment

I realize none of those 3 are overly knowledgeable or in Cowherd’s case particularly likable, it’s just my way of winding down from a busy day

For the player apologists like Cam who keep on saying it's about execution....

...when you have a known liability, but keep on putting that product out there.

That's coaching.

He did the same thing with that piece of shit Devin Bush for years on defense. And he had a guy who would go onto make the Pro Bowl at LB for the Raiders of all teams who if nothing else was all guts and heart compared to a piece of shit who didn't even care like Jonnu.

The Devin Bush stuff made me question Watt and Heyward more than any defense of Tomlin they ever spewed. Like how are as a defender going to watch the tape of your defense getting run on while your ILB literally goes out of his way to avoid contact like a woman?

And I don't typically make a habit of questioning the toughness of NFL LB's. It was just undeniable with Bush.

If your vet leaders on defense are willing to accept that being trotted out onto the field every week, you really have to question their commitment to winning.

its maddening but all these people are part of an industry and they are not going to burn bridges for no value or close future options or avenues
they just are not going to directly criticize - especially the ones that were a part of it

Very much this

I would use all of the pics to restock the cupboard and give Will Howard a chance

If he sucks, then theoretically you are in better draft position to take somebody the following year
