Inside the last team meeting with Tomlin

Dunno that anything here is terribly shocking, but there are a few interesting quotes. Unlike the Harbaugh situation sounds like he never lost the locker room.

“No one really saw it coming,” another player said. “Did we have an inkling? There were rumblings, but we thought he would play out his contract, at least one more year. We all thought at least one more year.”
“Every single player in that building wants to play for Mike T.,” said one player. “Were guys upset with coordinators? Yes. Was it the head guy? No.”
“There’s always noise, but I felt like it was getting to the point it was getting f—ing ridiculous,” an offensive player said. “I felt bad for him. I started thinking, if that was me, how long would I want to put up with that? Every time we lost it felt like the sky was falling. He took it all for us.”

if that was three quotes form 3 different players..........
then I would sit those 3 players down and ask them how satisfied they were over the last 2 years, 4 years, 6-10 years....

and then body language from the response would let me know if they needed to fired in to the sun one at a time or together in a capsule so they can discuss their successes together for a bit longer before being disintegrated.

these guys would be perfectly happy running it back one more year with the same bleak promise.

It's the exact same thing we've gotten for years from the ballwashing brigade.

Always blaming the coordinators. Then when you point out Tomlin hires those guys, and actually runs the defense, then more elaborate excuses.

And you don't like the OCs? We all know they've been running the offense dictated by the HC. Different QBs, different OCs, and same offense....

those quotes validate much and are all you need to know about the Culture that was built -- get paid, provide cover for blame, keep the gravy train rolling
why would anyone think he would play it out one more year if his option was refused -- that's a mindless statement

Good. This is why coaches cant be buddy-buddy with players. That is when winning takes a back seat to ping pong tables and veterans holding out for more money.

This shit isn’t difficult. This is a business. What’s funny is that I don’t think Rooney even knows or cares to know. Tomlin did and quit (thanks to us fan that had enough of this crap).

One of the quotes was probably from Watt... or a Heyward.

Think about it. No accountability! Keep your lips permanently glued to Tomlin’s hind quarters, and you too can get a massive contract and an early flight to Cancun after the season ends!

Tomlin took care of his pets. Most everyone wanted to be his pet.

Except a guy with massive talent like George Pickens. Ol’ George will get a huge payday this offseason because he was smart enough to see through the bullshit artist and the nightmare he was stuck in and forced his way out. Good for him. Hands of Stone Metcalf got his bag, but he’s also a headcase (and Pickens is a better receiver.). Now that The Human Albatross is gone, I know who I’d rather have on the roster and his name isn’t DK.

I wonder if poor Cam is still curled up into a ball in his shower, crying and rocking back and forth?

Anyone who plays for the Steelers and is sad to see Tomlin go is a player who needs to go. They are not winners and are satisfied with mediocrity. Just like the two big “leaders” on defense, Heyward and Watt.
Mike Tomlin and NHALS - The embodiment of the soft bigotry of lowered expectations.

I prefer this logic.....
"The reason you've been losing is you're not any good. You're not fast enough, you're not strong enough, you're not quick enough, you're not smart enough. I'm going to have to get rid of most of you."
I am not sure players had fun times and warm moments playing for Belichek and Parcelss either.
