Will Tomlin be greeted well by Steeler Nation into the future yes or no

I mean I wanted him gone. It was obvious it was needed and I'm glad he did it on his own it seems. In the future though when he comes back for say a special event or maybe he is the coach of someone else or something like that, what do you think fans would do? There is probably going to be something I would think in 2028 season for the 2008 team. I could see him show up for whatever they do.
I remember a few years ago, even after he died, Bulls fans booed Jerry Reinsdorf's widow and it was pathetic by them.
I don't want him to be some pariah that people would boo at the drop of a hat with how it ended for him here. Sometimes wish his career was reversed like Cowher and had his success at the end.
I'm glad it happened. Just frustrated a little that he would get a bad response down the line.

Good question, I think he is definitely welcomed back. Whatever we on this message board may happen to think about how it came about, fact is he went to 2 SBs, won one of them, he was the head coach, and the vast majority of fans will just assess it on that surface basis, especially over time. And especially if we suffer through a losing season or two during a rebuild. People are very impatient these days, but also very prone to forget past issues.
Sure, I would definitely welcome him back but it was definitely past time for him to get on with his life's work. Wish him and his family nothing but the best.

Absolutely. He's just not the man for the job anymore, but he's clearly a significant part of the franchise's history.

i see an arrogant, selfish individual that cost the steelers several great opportunities to win a super bowl.
he will be remembered as the guy that couldn’t win without cowhers players and coaches.

he is/was a steeler and should be welcomed back
he did win a SB and went to another
but in the end he was too stubborn to change or too arrogant about his Plan
and that all makes him a decent coach but not a HoFer
you can have problems with the organization (Terry, Ben) or how you feel you were treated by fans and still stow it and come back and be part of it

He should lay low for 3-5 years. After a new coach is installed (and assuming he doesn't have playoff success during that period) fans will welcome Tomlin back more fondly.

It was past time for Tomlin to move on and I am glad he stepped down.
Tomlin is an enormous part of the Steelers Legacy and he will be welcomed with open arms when that time comes.

Pretty much this., Fans barely even turned on him for the most part in terms of the ones who attend games. For all the crap we saw from him over the years, he got the Fire Tomlin chants twice. People mostly don't despise him. I know a lot of people on this site do, but it's basically the extreme wing of the anti-Tomlin group which is still a sub-group of the overall fanbase.
I hate what he has done to this franchise, but at the end of the day he is a big part of Steelers history. I'm sure he'd have liked to have won some playoff games. Just wasn't the guy to do it. There were SOME good times with him. It's just over.
Like Cowher, time will heal old wounds and people will mostly at least try to focus on the positives of his reign.

Pretty much nails it. He was a mediocre coach that lucked into a SB-ready team. Covered his warts with false bravado and pseudo-intellectual catch phrases.

When Ron predicted Tomlin to be a phony way before before MT proved himself to be - Ron was called a racist. We all owe him an apology.

the steelers are 4th in the NFL in wins over the last 10 years; the #1-3 teams all have NFL MVP QBs starting for them.
There is a strong argument that winning despite roster issues actually retards rebuilding/championship potential. But that’s not really a coaching failure per se.

Pursuit of NHALS retards postseason success. It's a league full of parity, and Tomlin stacked wins playing not to lose while getting bailed out by stars doing star player things. He's absolutely the poster child of mediocrity. NHALS would be impressive with a slew of postseason success to go with it, but Tomlin did virtually nothing in the playoffs without Cowher's coaches and players.
Tomlin didn't overachieve in anything - plenty of other teams with equal or lesser talent winning playoff games in this timeframe. If you're not expected to win playoff games - and 31 other HCs are - eeking out a barely winning [regular season] record really isn't anything special.
And most of that time, Tomlin had + QBs, even if they were HOFers well past their prime. No one in any other sports league in history has strung together such an embrassing and pathetic string of playoff futility.

Assuming he does not go onto coach for another team, I think the fans will generally be positive towards him in the future
Some of his personal characteristics were annoying, but by and large he seems to be a good person, and his career would be considered very successful by almost any measuring stick
I am glad he is no longer coaching the team, but that does not preclude me being thankful for his time and efforts

I don't think people will begrudge him going back into coaching and I fully expect he will at some point unlike Cowher. I personally would hardly hold it against him, but I wanted him gone for a long time so...

i don’t see him coaching again.
why would he leave the best gig going?
no accountability, no post season expectations,
, no pressure , big money…
going to a lesser organization would really expose his mediocrity. he knows he only won with cowhers. l players and coaches. i truly believe he coached as long as he did to try to disprove this. he finally came to this realization that he couldn’t
maybe, just maybe rooney gave him the boot but allowed. mikey to go out saying it was his choice.
i doubt it tho. rooney was fine either with .500 seasons and almost making the playoffs

The past is always viewed with nostalgia and rose colored glasses.
The truth is that this dude had full control of his job status, and was takings 8 figures a year to produce a mediocre product. Is that honorable? I guess it depends on how you look at it.
I dont think he gave it his all. (at least I hope he didnt, because if he did than the Rooney's look even dumber)

This. His nonsense and bullshittery also really affected my love of the team. I waited YEARS to get season tickets. After a while, I didn’t want to go the games because I was disgruntled with the product on the field and his bullshit. I wound up giving up my tickets and becoming almost completely disengaged. I came back this past season because of Rodgers and the spectacle of it all.

I said he should be welcomed back and stick by that - but, I also agree that ... the real galling part of the last decade for me was being gas-lit and treated like morons with the inane bullshit, nonsensical explanations and obvious contradictions. That is what has always made me feel like he dindt give a shit for anything but getting paid and getting his favorites paid. and he rode that cash cow until it became stunningly obvious to even his Sponsor Rooney and other supporters that he was either unable to unwilling to do more and change to get the Team to ultimate success. The Bullshit ran Out as it so often does

I need to stop you right there.
Who do you think had significant influence over the roster? There has been 1 single constant in the past 19 years: Tomlin and Art.

Exactly how I felt.
I began to LOATHE this team. Do you know how much I fucking loved every single Steelers game growing up? My Sundays were built around when this game was. Could not get enough Steelers football.
Then over the past 10 years it became just not very fun to watch. Pathetic product with not many likeable players and and even more unlikeable leader.
Fuck Mike Tomlin. He's laughing at all of us all the way to the bank.

It might depend on that shitbag son of his opening his yapper.
Cant wait for that.
Coach T has always had the ability to flim flam people, he does have a gift for lying. People also want to like a clean man like him, especially white women.
He'll be fine.
That said, that last quarter of the Texans game might have been the worst most fucked up quarter of football in his 19 years. Granted, I can't remember a lot of them, but to go out on that one in particular is pathetic.

Of course he will!
He should have nothing but gratitude for that organization. His ass would've been fired a long ass time ago if he coached for any other team. Fact.
