I want to know the real Post Steelers Tomlin story...

Are there requests to interview him?

Has he stated he isn't open to interviewing right now?

If Tomlin decides he is ready and willing to coach, and still there are crickets, what would that say about all those years of:

- If the Steelers fired Tomlin he'd be hired in a second by another team.
- If the Steelers fired Tomlin. who are they getting that's better.

These were the core arguments in support of Tomlin by many Football 'Analysts', journalists, and fans for years.

Could you imagine if it turned out that all the other NFL organizations knew the same thing many of us knew

I think that amazing Tomlin 19 year coaching tree gives us a clue.

The NFL is WWE-like in crafting images and narratives. And Mike Tomlin was a good one.

Pretty clear the NFL dictates to ESPN and other outlets what to cover and what to push. Been obvious a long time. "Sports Journalism" probably hasn't existed since the hey day of Sports Illustrated.

How dumb would this make the Rooney's look to the rest of the league though?

I have no doubt that if Tomlin wanted to coach he'd have been hired this cycle. I'm sure Art II would have nothing but positives to say to any owner asking and it'd make me gag to here (unlike Belichick who Kraft allegedly tanked to other owners who are stupid in general). He has a good reputation. We saw Harbaugh get snatched up in like 5 seconds and he's of pretty similar quality to Tomlin in my book. Both guys with massive warts, though I don't think Harbaugh has been passed by the way Tomlin has by the league and he's more open to new ideas and better assistant coaches.

I fully believe that Tomlin would have been hired in 5 seconds if he wanted it.

Agreed, and I think the fact that Harbaugh was hired so quickly shows it. Tomlin would have had another job if he wanted one. Some team like the Cardinals or Titans or Falcons desperate for new culture would have brought him in.

Good call, Deebo

Dr Z was always a must read.

Dude once named former Dawg and Steelers WR Andre Hastings to his All Z team….when he was still in high school (obviously didn’t quite live up to the hype.

Hub Arkush and his Pro Football Weekly was pretty good as well.

I also subscribed to the Soorting News. Dan Pompei was insider before there were insiders

I miss reading periodicals but those examples can’t compete with instant information right there on your phone

Not to be confused with Peter King, who actually admitted he barely watched football because he was too busy trying to make his deadline.

His editor must have hated him to let that slip through.
