The outrageous salaries, to me, or my major turn off as an NFL fan. Illustrating this yesterday was the plight of poor Daniel Jones. Poor guy as portrayed by the analysts because of his injury he's only gonna be able to make 30 some million next year… It's really too bad according to the analyst that he's going to be so underpaid. What the actual fuck!! Daniel fucking Jones 30 some million??

Football really escalated in just the last few years. Non-QBs getting $40M+ per year?!?

But is it any less outrageous than the salaries singers and actors get? But I guess when not "underpaying" employees (because you don't have any) you get a pass.

Really it's pretty insane to drop $300 on Sunday Ticket. But it's even more insane what it costs a family of 4 to go to a sporting event. Not just talking about the NFL or even sports - when you have all these alternative entertainment options, the competition is supposed to LOWER prices. But maybe that's really just an indicator of over-consumption or lazy consumption. Probably not sustainable - you aren't making less money, you're just wasting your money on a lot more (like, do you really need to pay for 5 streaming services?).

And the NIL money in college is already ruining it. You have players who have transferred 3-4 times. LMFAO "student athlete". WHAT ARE WE DOING?!??

I watched a video this morning and they were talking about senior nights for college basketball teams. They said of the high major (65-70) teams around the country, there were only 22 players that played their entire college career at one school. In the SEC, only one player did that. That’s crazy!

Sure, capitalism, but it's a small fortune to have season tickets for a family of four, to baseball or basketball (and other sports). No better illustration than the NFL international games - literally taking away a home game from the actual local fan base so you can, presumably, gouge international customers who are just there to experience a game (like the SB became a long time ago).

Even being able to watch the local team on TV has been chipped away at with exclusive streaming packages.

The downside to all this - which I think we are all painfully aware - is the product suffers/changes when the revenue model changes. You're exchanging a stable fan base for a very transient one - if your model isn't built around repeat business, then the quality tends to be inferior. So you have the casual observer who's like "wow, what did you think of that call?" vs. the diehard fan who wants to kill Goodell and all the refs.

Inevitably it becomes harder and harder to entertain and get the attention of those transient/casual fans. Which leads you down the WWE path....
