Steelers just signed Travis Homer.
"yeah I'm going to need you to spend more time on the practice squad"

Drafting a RB when we had Warren, Gainwell, Lew Nichols, and that other guy that previously played for the Niners was just dumb.
We needed a WR (badly) at that spot and instead burned it on a mediocre RB. Was easy to see both Nichols or that other guy would have given us better quality carries than Johnson did.
Buuuuuuuttt he was a 3rd rounder so a spot was wasted for him.

So you’re saying that one of the Khan Artists greatest con artist moves wasn’t really konn artist-esque at all?

Man did we miss on those two picks. At least a mid-R3 hurts a lot less than when they took Najee (in Ben's last year, no less)

Supposedly Tomlin and others wanted to trade up to take Kaleb and were astonished when he fell to the Steelers in the 3rd and praised Khan's nerves of steel. Good thing they didn't blow an extra pick trading up for him!

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit. Jibba was always an awful picker of horse flesh

Tomlin ruined him by putting in back on KR when he had no experience. Then Tomlin buried him. But if he not a player we missed on back to back 3rds.

Tomlin was/is a total fraud, and I dance a jig in my mind every morning when I wake up knowing that he isn’t around to fuck up my favorite football team. But if putting Johnson, a RB by trade, on the field as a kick returner, ruined him, then just cut him right now because you can’t fix mentally weak!

Has Johnson got a fair shot? I don’t think so, Tomlin as usual stupidly put a 225 pound RB as a returner, and after the fumble never let him out of the dog house.
I’ll reserve from calling him a bust until he actually gets a chance, same for Wilson.

Of the many things I'll be able to laugh at about the Tomlin regime once time passes, his only occaisionally restrained urge to have slow running backs (whether through age or fatback-ness) as returners will certainly be one. What a weird fetish for a HC to have.

The opposite of good player development is misusing a talent, then putting them in the doghouse forever for your mistake.
Fuck Tomlin. And FedEx Nepo.
If Roman Wilson didn't deserve to be in the lineup then neither did Jonnu Smith and esp. Brod the Fraud Jones.

I can't figure out Johnson. He looked GREAT on film at Iowa. He was explosive. He hit the hole hard. He had nice juice.
Last year...he looked like he had NO JUICE AT ALL. I have no clue what happened to the kid.

My guess is that after that fumble and not being used for like the next 8 weeks, he was probably either tentative, or he just didn't give a shit anymore. Hard for a RB to get going when he only gets 1 carry every 3rd game.

The way I look at it is Kaleb and Roman both probably have clean slates coming into mini camp, they will get at least an opportunity to show what they can or can't do, SBI is both of them show at least something and can become decent role players this season, if not it would be back to back wasted 3rd rounders.

Tomlin’s infatuation with plodder running backs was only surpassed by his insistence upon having a sub 5’7”, 175lb player in the roster

Spot on never game him any chance after that KR mistake.

Maybe saying ruined him was a wrong choice of words. Maybe never got a fair shot by Tomlin after the kickoff mistake. I don’t feel that he should not been back there never I think did it at Iowa. I wish he around for training camp with a new coach

Roman will really need to prove something but Mike uses plenty of Wr so he get an opportunity

My God, is it possible the stupidity has left this team with Coach T cleaning out his office?
I bet he didn't clean out his office, not his Lordship, he either left it a shithole or had someone else clean it for him.
It will be shocking to see personnel moves that aren't the same stupid fucking thing over and over for twenty years.
