With all this war against the officials and the league
More goofy results coming to a game near you. The fixed game now will even be more fixed this year
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the NFL owners have passed a rule enabling them to “correct clear and obvious misses” by on-field officials from the NFL Officiating Department.
This is, of course, in the event that there’s a work stoppage involving the NFL Referees Association. Probably says a lot about what is expected to happen that this rule was passed, don’t you think? It’ll be the first time that New York is able to overrule things on the field on their own with video evidence. The owners also approved allowing teams to kick onside kicks at any time during the game, eliminating the incentive to intentionally kick the ball out of bounds when kicking off from the 50-yard line, and modifying the kickoff alignment requirements for the receiving team players in the setup zone.
Yes correcting misses is good, but it opens the door to all other "we are telling you what your eyes don't see" scenarios

NBA has had coaches challenges a few years now.
MLB has had coaches challenges a few years as well..... they instituted balls and strike pitch challenges this year....
Is there another sports that games are decided by a lousy call...a missed call...a bad angle for a ref.... etc... more than the NFL? 20-30-40 yards pass interference calls that lead to points....
How often do we hold our breath after big plays...waiting for a flag....
I don't think umpires in MLB are a factor in winning or losing games... like the NFL.... bang bang plays in MLB can be reviewed.
NFL refs can tickly tackly..... and they throw flags based on players reputations
Or at flag thrown that puts the ball into FG ramge that decides the game.
We hear how this ref crew does not call holding...or that crew is flag happy for PA...
That's nuts
NBA whistles are very much star driven...
Drive the lane with the right name on your back...
And good chance. They blow the whistle.
I think MLB is the sport least decided or effected by umpiring.
Time for 1 challenge per half in the NFL.
Or 1 per game. Win the challenge and you have 1 more

No doubt NBA refs are waaayyyy worse than NFL refs. Case & point, Bam's 83pt game. That dude shot 43 FT's. That's insane. I'm a Lakers fan and after the Miami game JJ complained about the Refs. Next game Pistons got all these bogus calls while they were allowed to butcher the Lakers with No calls. It was revenge from the Refs.
OKC is a perfect example of how they get away with crazy fouls all the while SGA gets bogus calls while pushing off. Just terrible

I've been screaming for this change for a few seasons now.
There absolutely no reason the NFL can't have 1 or 2 people watching every game in real time and correcting obvious mistakes.

Tennis is the sport least decided by umps, etc. They basically dont exist anymore as tech has largely replaced them.

No sport is worse than hockey goalie interference right now.

What until we get AI officiating. And, of course, the NFL will have a few dials it can turn to tighten or loosen the officiating, and also help the losing team get back in the game.
