Pens beat champs!!
Pens go to 6-2 with 5-3 win over Florida. Not a good night for Bobrofsky (sp), letting in 5 (2 by Sid) on just 16 Pens shots. Pens outshot 37-16.

After taking a 2-0 lead in the 2nd, Pens were outshot 29-6.

Kindel was great, also. Stepping up big.
Jarry is taking to this every other game thing. Maybe less chance to become tired/complacent?
Also, the Pens' power play looks light years better than last year.
They seem to have found a good mix of grinders and skill guys. Need some more shutdown defensemen types.

Indeed. The new guys have been a breath of fresh air. I suspect them to regress a bit as the season goes along. One, because the young guys will likely cool off a bit. But two, because I suspect we're in a honeymoon phase where other teams are still figuring out how to play against this new Pens team. Once that book is out, I think we'll see some of that regression (although maybe we finally have a coaching staff that will adjust).bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Fri Oct 24, 2025 1:49 pmKindel was great, also. But man, I don't mind living in the moment and enjoying it while its lasting. Been a hot minute since I've enjoyed watching hockey this much.

Some interesting stats from Taylor Hasse
The Good
• The Penguins' five goals here -- two from Crosby one from each of Kindel, Connor Dewar and Rakell -- brings their season total to 28. The only teams in the league with more are the Bruins (29) and Golden Knights (30).
• The Penguins have allowed only 19 goals, tied for the eighth-best in the league.
• The Penguins' power play -- bolstered by a pair of goals from Crosby in this one -- sits atop the league at 33.3%.
• Their 148 blocks are the second-most in the league.
The not so good
• According to the NHL's tracking data, the Penguins spend 43.2% of the time in their own zone, the third-worst in the league.
• They spend just 39.7% of the time in the offensive zone, the seventh-worst in the league.
• The penalty kill fell to 18th in the league with a 76% success rate, with two of the Panthers' three goals coming on the man advantage.
• The Penguins average 24.8 shots on goal per game, the fifth-worst in the league.
• They've controlled a total of 46.8% of all shot attempts across all eight games, the eighth-worst ratio in the league.
• When they do have a lead, that ratio falls to 43.3%, the fifth-worst in the league.
• They have the fifth-most giveaways in the league, at 132.
• The Penguins lead the league in PDO -- a measure that takes into account shooting percentage and save percentage and is intended to be a measure of luck. A lower PDO is supposed to indicate that the team isn't getting the bounces, where a high PDO would suggest that a team is getting some help in that regard. Either way things usually regress to the mean.
