Pens vs Devils (4/20/21)

Post by Pabst » Tue Apr 20, 2021 9:39 pm

Malkin and Kapanen both practiced in non-contact jerseys this morning. Blackwood will not play tonight for NJ.

The Pens are back at home for 5 games after playing 8 of the last 9 on the road. Lines from this morning:
Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
McCann-Carter-Zucker
ZAR-Blueger-Rodrigues
Sceviour-Jankowski-Lafferty

Dumo-Letang
Matheson-Ceci
Pettersson-Marino

Jarry

The Devils have been dreadful in April, going 1-8-1 so far this month. The Pens need to win this.

After tonight, we are down to 10 games remaining, so let's look around the division:
The two teams chasing the Pens (Boston and NYR) have both been red hot. Washington and NYI have been pretty meh. The Bruins take on Buffalo tonight (Go Sabres!). The NY teams play each other, so just root for a regulation win by one of them. Caps don't play til Thursday.

Final note - If Boston gets a point and NJ loses in regulation, it would officially eliminate the Devils from the post season.

It is Military appreciation night at the Bucket tonight.
The Pens are wearing special jerseys, 6 of them all designed by ZAR! They will be auctioned over the next few days.

AT&T Pitt just said that no team has won the Stanley cup with a PK as poor as the Pens.

Wow that second goal covered 200 feet with 2 passes and took about 4 seconds.

That was an amazing pass off the wall from Sid to Rust. Great goal to finish it all off.

I agree about the Rust goal but the Dumo goal was all on Wedge Wood who played that terribly. I'm surprised that Ruff didn't pull him after that. He had to play that with his body in blocking position but rather he was lazy and tried to play it with his glove only.

Carter makes it 4-0

i was not really complimenting the goal more the knuckleball action that it had. I agree the Goalie fucked up by not being square.

Jarry is a fucking moron. I wish they could attach a leash to him so he would stay in the blue paint area.

Leave it to the Pens to make a six goal lead into a nail biter. Sheesh.

They got lazy and sloppy in the 3rd period; especially Letang.

I hope they learn from it.

I'll take the two points.

I think we can only lose 3 (at most) of the last 10 games if we want any shot at 1st place. 8 wins will probably do it, imo.

That was a period to forget.
I give the Devils a ton of credit because they never stopped coming. Sure they were sloppy and turned the puck over a lot in their own zone(the Pens had a lot to do with that) but they never quit. Very impressive.

I'm wondering what was said in the locker room after the game?

A crazy 2 points for sure.

Sullivan looked PISSED going into the room. Mature audiences only, for sure.
