Watching with no expectations tonight, folks. Rusty and Zucker missed practice Tuesday, but for fatherhood and maintenance, respectively, so I expect little if any change tonight. DeSmith also no practice, unsurprisingly. We invade Long Island one last time this season with our squad unchanged, but if there's some battle left and we can get this thing back to PPG, who knows?

I think Sullivan pulls the surprise and sends Legace out there. No logic, just a feeling.

The only changes Sully makes tonight are the clothes he is going to wear.
Like B2B pointed out in the last thread, rock and a hard place with this goalie situation because of the DeSmith injury, and some real possibility of career damage for Jarry, but it would be a real Hail Mary to throw Lagace in there in this game.fractalsteel wrote: ↑Wed May 26, 2021 3:09 pmThe only changes Sully makes tonight are the clothes he is going to wear.

I don't know about career damage. Guy is 26 and has played in more than a 100 NHL games.Ice wrote: ↑Wed May 26, 2021 3:41 pmLike B2B pointed out in the last thread, rock and a hard place with this goalie situation because of the DeSmith injury, and some real possibility of career damage for Jarry, but it would be a real Hail Mary to throw Lagace in there in this game.fractalsteel wrote: ↑Wed May 26, 2021 3:09 pmThe only changes Sully makes tonight are the clothes he is going to wear.
Remember when he stunk up the joint to start the season and DeSmith took over.?Then DS got hurt just before a game and Jarry came in and played lights out and took back his job. I don't think he is fragile.
Anyway, no one is talking about McCann. Dude has gone missing the past five games with only one point and 11 shots. It isn't like he is seeing the best defenders the Islanders have to offer.
As far as changes, Sully doesn't coach from his gut(thankfully) though I believe he has strong beliefs about players and situations and sticks to them, sometimes too long.
He has been shifting Tanev to the top and second line a bit in this series. Probably to give them a physical player.
Anyone else notice Pettersson and how is pinching more in this series? There have been a few times where he has taken the puck behind the net and come around and tried to get a shot close up. He hasn't scored but he has been effective when doing this.
McCann has definitely been on a milk carton as well. For me, it's more he's getting lost in the midst of a bunch of other disappointing performances than anything else. If everyone else was playing well enough for me to be mad about McCann, we'd be getting ready to play the Bruins right now.

If you are Sullivan and you look back at the last game, what would you really change?
Aside from a bad last minute in the first and a bonehead play by your tender you dominated large stretches of the game. It was a game you could easily have won.
If we see the same kind of game tonight from the Pens that we saw on Monday night I think they have a great chance to win.
Keep out of the sin bin(especially you Malkin) because the PK has been very very good but you don't want to push your luck.
Win FO's, especially in the DZ.
Pepper Sorokin from everywhere and get bodies to the net.
Take advantage of Islander mistakes because they have been there but the Birdies haven't to the degree they are capable of.

I want to thank you guys for keeping me updated. Cheers -

As the resident eternal optimist, I'm predicting a shut down game by Jarry, big plays by both Sid and Geno, and a tough 3-1 victory tonight.

And one goal - one assist from 87 this series is not cutting it for me. But I’m a miserable fuck, so whatever.

Sorokin’s horeseshoe has been removed from his ass. That puck would have missed wide on Monday.

Well we had two leads and blew them both. Appears familiar. Islanders don’t blink and they don’t panic. Jarry looks...like Jarry.

Oh wow. They just showed a review of that second goal from a different angle, and Crosby actually deflected it before it got to Jarry, and that's why he couldn't control it.

It is like Jarry has a blind spot because that shot was a floater but he didn't react until it was on his body. Palmieri was in the right place at the right time and the puck found his stick.
Anyway, it felt like the first period in this series that the Pens were the more physical team. After Malkin leveled Martin Mayfield came in and took a penalty. A dumb one, then he punched Kap, who was just standing there, three times. Where were the extra minutes?
The best shift for the Pens was by the top line at the end. They had the Islanders reaching for their socks.
Right after the Pens went up 2-1 the Islanders turned the puck over in a really bad spot and McCann was in the low slot. He got off a great shot but Sorokin just got a tiny piece of it. Inches from going up 3-1.

That explains why he reacted late.Louis Lipps Service wrote: ↑Wed May 26, 2021 11:24 pmOh wow. They just showed a review of that second goal from a different angle, and Crosby actually deflected it before it got to Jarry, and that's why he couldn't control it.
