2-3 Mock

Post by SteelerDayTrader » Wed Oct 13, 2021 10:35 am

14/1 Kaiir Elam CB Florida
One of the more consistent and glaring failings of the Steelers for 10yrs + has been the inability to close out games late against decent QBs. That’s largely due to 2 things. 1) The Steelers are a poorly coached and developed team. 2) The Steelers are a lousy at drafting and scouting. Elam has talent and quicks to go with a large build. The Steelers won’t be able to screw him up too much. I suspect the Steelers have pre-determined to keep Fitzpatrick much like they did with Low Watt. Elam will add backend talent and help compensate for Fitzpatrick’s faults.

46/2 Jaylen Wydermyer TE Texas A&M
Friermuth in the 2nd is looking more and more like a bust. To be fair he isn’t horrible just nowhere near 2nd rd value. Paired up in 2 TE sets with Wydermyer I think that’s a decent TE unit on the field that will open up opportunities for the Steelers offense as a whole and the lesser talented Friermuth in particular.

78/3 Jaquan Brisker SS PSU
Solid middle of the field guy with some electricity the Steelers have been missing for a while in the middle. Another guy who can help cover for Fitzpatrick as well

99/3 Tyler Smith OL Tulsa
Talented OL who has the build to play any OL position well in the AFC North

180/5c Brian Robinson Jr RB Alabama
You cannot come close competing for a Lombardi in 2021 and beyond without at least 2 or 3 real solid RBs. We have one. I wish we could get great value later but the Steelers are a very bad team when it comes to scouting and developing the RB unit. The worst team in the league in that regard. Robinson is a solid RB with some 3rd down skills as well. Too talented for the Steelers to screw up too badly. A great and vital add late in the 5th

220/7 Eric Barriere QB EWU
Electricity talent and guts. Bad teams like the Steelers get better quick when they go after talent like this late in the draft. If Ben leaves he has enough talent to keep the Steelers competitive during a retooling. If Ben sticks around he is an exciting versatile backup with multiple ways to win

250/7 Marquan McCall NT Kentucky
Potentially dominate NT in the 7th ?? Sign me up. Big but moves well and good build

Colts Draft 2024
1 Terrion Arnold DB
2 T’Vondre Sweat DL
3 Isaac Guerendo RB/WR
4 Tykee Smith DB
5 Ainias Smith WR/RB
6 KT Leveston OL
7 Ulumoo Ale DL/OL

Like Brisker for our secondary.

I do not think they need a TE that high. Gentry is a very good TE#2

I strongly disagree

Gentry wouldn’t make a playoff team roster

Friermuth MIGHT with a lot of work make a passable #2 TE

Gentry is such a good blocker they are using him rather than send in an extra OT.
