Lets Go Bucs 2025!
Re: Lets Go Bucs 2025!
Amazing how this team can go on a 4 game offensive tear yet managed to completely miss Skene's turn in the rotation. Glad they pick up another win yesterday, but for the love a god, please get that dude some runs!!!!

3 game sweep of the Cardinals, holding them scoreless. They broke a record from 1884 too.
"No team has ever scored more runs over a six-game span while allowing fewer than five runs in the history of Major League Baseball.
It's a 43-4 stretch for Pittsburgh.
The previous mark was 42 runs in such a dominant six-game streak, which was done in 1884 by the Cincinnati Outlaw Reds"
I know it's is very unlikely for a wild card, but with this pitching, anything is possible still this year. Fingers crossed.

Every other team in the division is over .500 so it ain't gonna happen.
Too bad, because the WC format gives them a puncher's chance.

Unbelievable, after a 6 game winning streak they get swept in Seattle all while not scoring a run losing back to back 1-0 games. 1st time since 1888 they were swept in 3 without scoring.

Like a reversal from last week. Skenes strikes out 10 in 5 innings....they waste sooo many great performance from this guyStlcrtn1974 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 06, 2025 10:42 pmUnbelievable, after a 6 game winning streak they get swept in Seattle all while not scoring a run losing back to back 1-0 games. 1st time since 1888 they were swept in 3 without scoring.

I don't know how he doesn't want out. I mean I can see him wanting to stay if they were actually trying to assemble a mlb offense, this is ridiculous.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 06, 2025 10:53 pmLike a reversal from last week. Pirates pitching staff has allowed the fewest runs of any team in the National League. 15 games under .500.

In the mid sixties they couldn’t get pitching to save their lives. Once had a .300 TEAM BATTING AVERAGE. Clemente, Matty Alou, and Manny Mota competing for batting titles. Harry “The Hat” Walker managing and teaching how to hit.

You really gotta like how the Bucs walk back to the dugout after striking out. Erect, shoulders back, eyes ahead, slow and deliberate. Real classy. They get lotsa practice, though.
After Paul Skenes blazed through the first inning tonight, the National League went out and scored two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Skenes was probably thinking "So THAT'S what run support looks like..."

the Savannah Bananas would have a chance against this team

Here’s what I love about this organization. They’re down 7-1, but poor Brian Reynolds is up there with the prime directive to run up the pitch count. Looks at lollipops, couple 85 mph called strikes right down the pipe. Fouls off a few more garbage throws, and just like I bet myself, swings and misses on the high pitch, the fastest of the ab at 93 mph. Not knocking the guy, but perhaps he needs more than a week off. And the blessing of a trade to a major league org.

I think at this point you trade everyone but Skenes, Keller, and Wright. I mean how the fuck can you put together a top notch pitching staff with some of the worst offensive talent I've ever seen. GM needs to be fired too along with whole coaching staff before next year.
Swept by the White Sox...Sweep the Tigers.
This just shows there's no runaway favorite in MLB this year...even the Dodgers look bad now too.
The only slightly encouraging sign...Horwitz seems to have found his stroke.
But the offense still sucks ass.

The trades that this joker of a GM made are absolutely ridiculous. Bednar should have got us a major league bat. No question. Word is they had a better package on the table but it would have increased payroll rather than cut it. Then we go ahead and trade one of Cherington's best acquisitions in Bailey Falter, who has shown he is a very decent starter. And LHP do better at PNC. Made no sense and it seems they did it just to save a 3-4 million bump in his salary next year. We are done man. We have the worst owner, GM, and Team President in major sports.

It's August and Pirates trading proven talent for prospects is as predictable as kids running at the pool

Oh, it’s not only believable but predictable. Just check the advanced metrics! If there was enough money actually involved one could almost suspect a fix. Somebody definitely has to check with Elias sports bureau on the records.

After the 1st inning, I told my wife games that start lime this can turn wild. Bednar gave up 2 runs in an inning and 2/3.Rod & Wire Mill wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 4:12 amOh, it’s not only believable but predictable. Just check the advanced metrics! What a frickin’ disaster of a franchise this is. $0 from me for ANYTHING until a new owner comes in. Speaking of which: https://frontofficesports.com/mlb-rarel ... g-to-sell/

I think I'm done for the year with Baseball. Nothing is going to change, fucking shame.
Donnie Kelly is 49-50 since taking over, 22-19 since the All Star break. Give him a couple legit hitters and I believe he leads this team at least to the playoffs. We have quality starting pitching, with depth and more prospects on the way. Just need to be able to score more runs. Too bad Konnor Griffin isn't quite ready. He is absolutely tearing it up in the minors.
I can't believe I am saying this but I am actually mildly optimistic about next season. And yes, despite the miser Nutting and the seemingly incompetent Cherington, I am cautiously optimistic about next season. I have been enjoying Buccos baseball a lot more since Kelly took over. It hasn't been all sweetness and light, of course, we still regularly trot out lineups with 2, 3, 4 guys hitting south of the Mendoza Line, but I do see some mild progress since Kelly's time as manager. Let's go Bucs!!

they'd have won two or three more games had they not dumped relievers for prospects...they're ending the season kind of hot against good teams

They have played very well at home. Road issues ruined this year but I guess it's expected with a young team. They need 2 bats, hopefully they'll spend the money. With this pitching next year, next year may be very interesting.Dan Smith--BYU wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 5:36 pmthey'd have won two or three more games had they not dumped relievers for prospects...they're ending the season kind of hot against good teams
Watched Paul Skenes own the Dodgers. When he goes to LA, NY or Boston, he is going to get so many World Series rings.

Does anyone remember what exactly the Pirates got for Priester?
Going out on a limb here, but I doubt it was worthwhile.
