Phil Garner has passed at 76, after a years long battle with pancreatic cancer. Hit .500 in the 79 WS. One of my all time favorite Buccos, a true man's man.

He was only with the Pirates for a few short years and had a long career as a player and manager but I always think of him as a Pirate. I learned how to chew side chew from him. RIP.
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."
