The third base coach waved Cruz home. Cruz chose not to go.
Let's Go Bucs!! 2026
Oh I missed that thanks.
Ok then that's a Cruz thing...gets hot as hell as a hitter...still has incredible brain farts.
Not sure he will ever get the smarts part of the game.
10 cent head.

So maybe I’m wrong on this one Jeemie. I caught a replay last night, the 3rd base coach was windmilling Cruz to go home. But this morning, I heard a couple of the local talking heads, one even referring to Don Kelly, and apparently Cruz got waved home, then the red light, then waved home again. So I guess this brain fart shouldn’t be pinned on Cruz. I’m sure there will be many more opportunities to do so.
Kelly said that the coach lost sight of the ball. Really? It was rolling around right there by 2nd base!
I believe that this is the second time in the young season that Kelly has made the excuse that this particular coach has “lost sight of the ball”. Knowing where the ball is, is kinda the number one priority of a base coach if you ask me. Maybe it’s time to find another third base coach!
Coming up after this Rangers' series...ten games against the Brewers, Cardinals and Reds.
That will tell the tale of the 2026 Pittsburgh Pirates.

and just like that...
they're at .500
they're at .500
The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.

A bunch of statistics that give me hope, though:
*Pirates are above .500 despite having played more games against teams with over .500 records than any other team in the MLB.
*Their record is better than 13 of the 15 teams in the AL...they'd be in first place in the AL Central and West
*They have the 6th-best run differential in the league
*They are tied for fifth for the most runs scored
This even factoring in that we have dead weights like Henry Davis and Marcel Ozuna on the roster right now, and a scary (not in a good way) bullpen.

A year ago I said that Cruz was going to center field on his way to DH. Now I say get rid of Ozuna however possible, pick up a serviceable outfielder,
And make Cruz DH.
And make Cruz DH.

What an outing by Skenes.... perfect through 4 2/3, then allows consecutive singles, the only base runners he allows the entire eight innings he pitched. Probably most impressive, through seven innings, He only went to three balls on one batter, he went to three balls on two batters in his final winning, but struck out both of them.

And Davis, and Bart, and Triolo… They done good with offseason deals but still need some hitters.Stlcrtn1974 wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2026 11:57 pmMight have to make Reynolds DHRod & Wire Mill wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2026 10:23 pmA year ago I said that Cruz was going to center field on his way to DH. Pet peeve of mine: hitters step out of the box, unfasten and the refasten the Velcro straps on their batting gloves.
Stop it! The gloves are fastened tightly. You don't have to readjust them after every fucking swing.
Mini-rant over.

I haven’t watched a lot of baseball in the past several years, but I thought the pitch clock was to try to eliminate stuff like that.
There's enough time to still do it, especially if they foul off pitches.
Joey Bart was doing it last night.
I don't know why- it just drives me crazy.

What a shitty loss. No bullpen whatsoever.
I guess you can't blame Kelly too much since Santana blew it in the 10th, but damn to have no one up when Soto so clearly didn't have it.
Someone needs to take him aside and beat that slide step out of him. The slide step clearly affects his mechanics.
And yet he was pitching from the stretch and STILL doing the slide step with the bases loaded.
Who the fuck did you think you think was going to steal with the bases loaded, Gregory?
