One of the last persons to see Roberto Clemente alive, father of Neil Walker, has passed away. Still pretty young, I'd say, only 74.

RIP Tom Walker
Heard the news last night. This one hits home a bit....
I may have mentioned this before, but I grew up with Neil (classmates at St Alphonsus in Wexford until 5th grade) and played baseball & basketball with him (usually on the other team, which sucked). I should go diving through my old box of childhood yearbooks and whatnot to see if I still have any pictures from those years. I had a card signed by Tom once upon a time.
Anyway, some fun Neil stories:
- I've seen interviews where he's said he was a life long Pirates fan, but I distinctly remember him always wearing an Expos stocking cap in the winter
- Can't remember how he said he got them, but Neil was given receiving gloves from Charles Johnson. Wore those damn things for recess football for like a month straight.
- My mom took us all out for McDonalds after basketball practice one day (had to have been 4th grade, so 10 years old?). Neil put down a super-sized meal by himself. Scared the shit out of my mom

Thanks for sharing those memories, Pabst. I hadn't seen you mention it before.
