TLSA getting absolutely hammered this year. By the way, this thread began on November 25, 2020. Lots of bold claims about how high TSLA would eventually go. As of right now it is down 32% from when this thread started.

Tesla has been rallying this month. My guess is it still needs to gain another 75% before Perch comes back here.

I meant when they are in their 20's and 30's but point well taken. China has ports all over the world for a reason. I highly doubt this overly sensitive generation of cry babies will be up to the task but you never know.COR-TEN wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 5:45 pmIn 20 years? Congrats! You're all old people now
I remember hearing these same things about the "Beavis and Butthead" generation of brain dead kids when I was growing up in the 90s.
This is purely anecdotal, but in my experience kids/teens/young adults in general aren't as addicted to their phones as you might think and Gen Z isn't nearly as hyper-sensitive as they're made out to be. Sure those whiny shitheads exist, but they seem more visible than they really are because they are way more active on social media.
I've dealt with a few of these types in the office, but they don't last long. Maybe it's different in other industries or other parts of the country.

I always vomited that argument when my superiors would complain about my generation. However, I think it's different today as when I was growing up there were four VHF channels and two UHF. People got their entertainment elsewhere or from interpersonal relationships/ actually doing something. People's circles were much smaller, and information traveled slowly/ media and society wasn't nearly as egocentric.Pabst wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 2:28 pmCongrats! You're all old people now

But I do think youth are addicted to their phones. They can't spend an hour of introspection sitting on a subway train. They constantly need to be entertained. I look around and see youth having dinner with adults and they are on their phones. Mostly because they don't have the social skills to engage with people on topics that aren't the new trend of swallowing tide pods. /end rant.

The first image shows the headline of the invasion of France during ww2, I believe. It's not like people didn't want to know what was going on during a global war. And please tell me you aren't comparing a newspaper in the 40's to facebook, instagram, tiktok, and twitter. Just found this thread. I don't do a lot of investing in the stock market but I have purchased some stocks over the years in a Roth IRA that has done decently on return. I am planning on purchasing Flutter Entertainment plc (PDYPF) it is up like $100 dollars since last september trading at about $200 a share. My only thinking is that Fan Duel will just grow into more markets as gambling apps become legal in more states. only like 20 states have the ability to use Fan Duel now even if it just doubles to 40 states it will just make them that much stronger.
That company is the majority owner of Fan Duel. I will also buy stock in the company that owns draft kings as well DraftKings Inc (DKNG) trading around $22 a share.
I want to read some of the stuff in this post but above is my 2 cents for some long term investments.

Slight gamble might be to but some Rumble (RUM) stock on now on the chance that Tucker Carlson could set up a stream over there and grow that platform. Shares are about $8 dollars each right now so a semi small investment may pay off nicely in a couple of years.
Sadly, I latched on to the Roth too late. I wished I had done more backdoor conversions when my income was way down during Covid. But at least now I'm making some progress there and, hopefully, that option will still be available in my years between retirement and collecting SS.stillthere wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 8:04 amJust found this thread. Pro tip: Anyone can put up to $6500 into an after-tax IRA (no income limits), and then immediately convert that to Roth tax-free. Advantage over a traditional brokerage is all your capital gains are tax free. Wish I had discovered this 10 years ago.

That said, not sure Tucker is enough to move the needle (I know that's not the bet - you're betting he's the catalyst). I don't know how Bill O'Reilly is doing - OK, I think, but not like he was. Shepard Smith hasn't done squat. Megyn Kelly has failed in multiple venues. But Shep is really interesting because he's one of the best straight reporters left, and it's telling he can't build an audience on a left-leaning outlet.

Carlson solo would not be enough to really leap the numbers up but as youtube cracks down more on what is allowed on the platform I think Rumble should have slow steady growth. I bought a bit about 2 weeks ago I will probably do the same in another month and let those grow for long term.Kodiak. wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 12:09 amThat's an interesting bet. Most of my thoughts are more long term investing. Thanks for the feedback.
