Dems Reversing Course On Crime

Dems Reversing Course On Crime

Post by Deebo » Tue Mar 12, 2024 12:34 pm

I mean it's not like everyone was saying this was a bad idea 4 years ago. But none of these politicians will admit they took the wrong approach.

From coast to coast, American cities known for liberal policies are taking more aggressive, conservative approaches to fighting crime.
• Why it matters: It's a surprising and stark reversal for Democrats who pushed for significant criminal justice reforms four years ago, Axios' Erica Pandey and Russell Contreras write.
🖼️ The big picture: The rightward shift comes after many liberal cities and states limited police powers and cut law enforcement budgets following George Floyd's killing.
• The changes expose intense pressure on Democrats to adopt tougher anti-crime laws and policies they once ridiculed — and reflect rising fears about violent crime among voters on both ends of the political spectrum.
State of play: San Francisco voters approved two ballot measures to expand police surveillance and impose drug screenings for those receiving welfare benefits.
• In New York City, Gov. Kathy Hochul recently ordered hundreds of National Guard troops to cut crime in the subways.
• Oregon is recriminalizing possession of drugs — including heroin, cocaine and fentanyl — three years after becoming the first state to decriminalize possession and personal use of all drugs.
• D.C. just passed a sweeping new crime bill that raises penalties for thefts and gun crimes.
• New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D), in a state with one of the highest rates for killings by police, is threatening to call a special legislative session for more anti-crime measures.
Reality check: Violent crime has fallen back to 2019 levels in the U.S. after spiking during the pandemic, though not in all cities.
🔎 Between the lines: The perception of crime remains high. 63% of Americans say crime in the U.S. is very or extremely serious, according to Gallup.
• That's the highest share in decades — and up from 48% in 2018.

Read an article about this the other day: https://nancyrommelmann.substack.com/p/drugs-1-oregon-0
While the decriminalization component went into effect in February 2021, the allocation of treatment funds did not. A June 2022 audit found that $278 million of the $302 million earmarked for “recovery” had yet to reach providers, due to a shortage of available treatment centers and providers, as well as having to come up with Measure 110's infrastructure in real time. (You would not be alone in thinking it might have been a good idea to have the infrastructure in place before facilitating people to do as much fentanyl, heroin and meth as they wanted.) A December 2023 audit showed continuing accountability problems, including having to terminate contracts with grant money recipients who failed to provide services to addicts.
So Oregon opts to de-criminalize drugs in favor of rehab/treatment. Sounds great......except 3 years later they *still* do not have the infrastructure for treatment set up. Predictably, disaster ensues.

There's this aspect of this. They know crime is a major drag on their electoral hopes. That the rotting, corrupt and crime infested blue city is the symbol of what happens when they have unchecked power.

For my part, I am a big proponent of criminal justice reform, just on completely different principles than those the left used when they hijacked the issue after George Floyd's death. If you can even call them principles. It isn't about race. Defunding cops is a stupid idea. Decriminalizing crimes with the threat of violence or against property are stupid.

Like everything the left touches, their actions seem almost designed to achieve the exact opposite effects of what they say. I hate the term social justice, but alls they did was create a system that terrorizes the normies and breeds lawlessness. That was their criminal justice "reform." It's enough to make you believe in conspiracies.

The problem is they continued to arrest these people. If you'd just stop arresting them, eventually reporting would stop and the crime "statistics" would drop.... :D

That's not a joke in CA. Very few thefts are even reported or investigated any more and anything under 950 is a misdemeanor.

And Pittsburgh seems to like what they see in CA. They are not bothering to come out unless its dangerous and in progress and not at certain late hours.

Stay the hell away from Philly. I'm ok with doing that.

This doesn't seem to be making the national news like Kyle RIttenhouse did. Not sure why!
Two 18-year-olds are being held on $2M bail in Philadelphia bus stop shooting that injured 8 teens

I fear the Democrats won't be able to reverse course on crime, they're all in, leaning in, on making it a lot worse.

And since people vote for these jagoffs, enjoy. Enjoy the issues you ask for.

Watch someone come in and buy up property at depressed prices...perhaps the same Chinese folks that bought off Joe Biden. I could see it.

This news story is.....something: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kZBD9xoQRQ

If you don't feel like watching: SF city government has banned doing business with the majority of states and the result has basically been that they've so badly hamstrung themselves that they're losing (even more) money.

Another Democrat powerbase with a super soft approach on crime reaping the rewards. Four people chop someone up, walk out with no bail. Dude pushes a woman onto subway tracks, loses her legs.

And crime down? Seems quite a bunch of bullshit.

This Hochul chick, what a creepazoid lizard, a bizarre person. A perfect Democrat though.

It's not just a US thing! Toronto wants to be like its big brother cities south of the border.
“To prevent the possibility of being attacked in your home, leave your fobs at your front door, because they’re breaking into your home to steal your car. They don’t want anything else,” Ricciardi reportedly stated. “A lot that we’re arresting have guns on them. And they’re not toy guns, they’re real guns. They’re loaded.”

“The sentiment behind the new advice is good, particularly in light of worries about potentially violent break-ins. Is it better to lose your car than potentially lose your life? I’d say so,” Phoebe Knight wrote for blogTO, approving of the constable’s advice.

Response time for emergency calls is apparently 22 minutes.

Cultural enrichment and diversity sure is grand.

Very strict gun laws, yet someone gets a firearm on a subway. How does that happen. I blame the NRA. LOL.

Gotta take away those ARs, because they're icky and scary. Frightening even. Where was the National Guard that cadaver governor said would help bring down crime, the crime that Joe Biden and the Democrat media says is dropping and NOT LIKE DRUMPF.

Shocking. Very strict gun laws, but SUH-PRIZE SUH-PRIZE, the criminals have guns while the citizens don't.

Granted, Canada claims most of the illegal guns come from the US, and that's probably correct. But how can anyone actually believe illegal guns wouldn't flow freely through our border just like migrants, drugs, sex trafficking, etc?

The #1 responsibility for a government is to provide a safe and civil country and environment.
#1.
Hands down.
No contest.

This party is doing everything in their power to dismantle this.
From low bail, no bail, early parole, emptying prisons during covid, bail out funds, etc. etc.
Criminal Rewards Reform, smash and grab immunity, < $950, etc. etc....
Laws to prevent stopping or filming the smash and grabs.
Carjackings. Grabbing peoples phones or belongings walking on the street.
Recommendations to keep key fobs close to door to make it easier for criminals to take keys out of house.
No vetting of millions upon millions of illegals entering the country.
It does not end.

Elimination of gun ownership to protect one and ones family....
Supported by politicians who are protected by actual ARMED detail.....can't even make that hypocrisy up.

What is the end game of all this civil disobedience and destruction they are creating?

Defund police is hitting hard.
Reducing police forces...........means more opportunities for crime and violence.
Less police on the streets....is a bright green "go" light to embolden criminals.
Less police...simply means "less" arrests..... and the mis-informed " crime is down" mantra.

Pittsburgh D mayor putting a hold on hiring new police officers in 2020 after the GF mostly violent riots and destruction.
And now they are down over 100 police officers. Down to 740 officers from 850.
So Pittsburgh will have 20 overnight police officers.
Whole new guideline on what 911 calls will be responded to.
Burglaries will need 2 points of confirmation of a burglary in process.
Madness, Insanity.

Destroying America, one town, one city, one state at a time.

And in New York City this past week.......
Just another sad and deadly, family crushing week in NYC

Another person tossed and killed in front of a subway train.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZmcLWeJUEo

Of course the assassination of the police officer by a career criminal let back out onto the streets by the destructive D's
Deblasi, Cuomo, Hocul, Alvin Brag, Letisha James.....etc. etc...
At what point do these people above need to be held accountable, arrested and charged with aiding and abetting criminals.
I am glad they were turned away from the funeral home.
The audacity of these people to even go to the funeral home

The gaul of Latisha James requesting to speak at the funeral.
Imagine if she was not totally consumed, overwhelmed, infatuated with "Something else"......and actually did her job....maybe murders like this do not happen.
The suspect has 21 prior arrests and was found to have a shiv stored in his rectum during the shooting — in apparent anticipation of being sent to jail again.
https://nypost.com/2024/03/25/us-news/n ... l-sources/

I believe he tried to shoot the cops partner and the gun jammed.

Where is Biden’s oblivious press conference with his stock respone of calling for the ban of assault rifles after this preventable murder.
This animal was arrested not to long ago with and unlicensed and loaded hand gun.
What gun control laws will stop this.
They don't really want gun control laws, they want control of a certain population and its not the part of the population that is committing most of the gun voliolence.

Appalling, absolutely repulsive...... that we have politicians, Vice President, HUGE donors ( Soros ), Hollywood, MSM, that continue to fund DA's, Judges, congressman, senators, mayors, etc.....who continue to pass laws and render court decisions that allow for this crime, murder and mayhem.

I believe Biden had his $25 million dollar NYC fund raiser the same day as this wake.....more money pouring into Destroying America, one town, one city, one state at a time.

And lets just add in the women getting sucker punched in the street.

https://www.businessinsider.com/new-yor ... why-2024-3

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2 ... yc-tiktok/

#protectallwomen.

I am sure that what happened in NYC this past week.....is a drop in the bucket compared to the bloodbath in Chicago every weekend.

Most astonishing.....we will have 50 million people that will knock over old ladies to get to the poles to vote for this party again and again.

Fortunately, these destructive politicians, the Pittsburgh Mayor, Lori Lightfoot, the Summer of love moron, Deblasio, etc, etc....either get voted out, term limit out, forced out or resign.
unfortunately .....replaced by another D...sometimes worse. Brandon Johnson in Chicago, Hockul and Adams in NY.

Bad politicians, up holders of law abound, Letisha James, Kim Foxx, Alvin Bragg, George Gascon, Mosby of Baltimore, Muriel Bowser of DC, Latoya Cantrell New Orleans.....

Not to mention the 2 at the top of law and order..........Merrick Garland and Al Mayorkas.
Or #1..JB.......who is not even aware of the destruction that he has caused in less than 3 years.

Party over policy is destroying this country.
Destroying America, one town, one city, one state at a time.

Sad.
Real sad for our future.
