Chris Hope: "I would run through a wall for Dick LeBeau"
"I would run through a wall for Dick LeBeau," Hope said. "Even today."

Dick is awesome, and I'm sorry he's gone. Butler has big shoes to fill. I hope he's up to it.

"Dick is so grey...we're really close on our handicap."
-Ben Roethliberger.

I bet if it came down to it, he wouldn't.
I mean, how thick of a wall are we talking about here?
He'd probably have to think about it long and hard either way. Depending on what kind of wall we're talking about, he could risk serious injury even if he could manage to break through it.
Not a decision you just carelessly throw out there, Mr. Hope.

You can love and respect Lebeau without having to spew all of this bullshit right now.
Fact of the matter is, if he still had "it" we wouldn't have seen the defense he fielded the last 3 plus years. They have been mediocre at best.
Jesus Christ this is football people. It comes and it goes. He's a legendary coach but so were every other legendary coach that came before him that hung it up because they didn't have "it" anymore. What the fuck ever.

Then why did he run off to Tennessee after he won a Super Bowl. I think the wall he was referring to was money not Lebeau.

I hope we have players saying "I would cover a whole hive of bees for Coach Butler" by the end of this season.

Per Chad Brown..........maybe Hope should slow down, and go around the wall for Dick vs. through it - smarter move.
I thank Dick Lebeau for this service with the Steelers. Incredible stuff a few years back. He is now yesterday's news. Can we move forward?

No it allows for the KB bitching and moaning that is absolutely guaranteed to happen in '15. He'll be hated started with the first 3rd down conversion or blown tackle by one of the recent the square peg round hole draft choices.

My lasting impression of Hope is him wildly failing to tackle Mike Anderson and being carried for like 7 yards.
Mike Tomlin: Bringing mediocrity to the 'Burgh for over a decade.

The true story, sans embellishment, is that our esteemed colleague, Barry Foster, travels from South Jersey to Pittsburgh for the SB parade. On parade Eve, Barry's on Federal Street in the North Side, when word spreads that #28 is in HiTops, which a few years hence would go belly up. Well...#28 exits HiTops, Barry thinks he's entitled to an autograph, a word with #28, etc.....but #28 doesn't say a word, snubs the crowd, exits via his limo, or HumVee, or whatever the fuck he was traveling in.

Berry didn't feel any entitlement. Barry thought Hope would at least acknowledge the fans who had assembled outside HiTops after hearing "Hope is coming out." Barry was on the sidewalk across the street when Hope finally did exit. A bouncer escorted him and made this announcement "Chris wants to be left alone." The bouncer then walked Hope to his car while I watched from across the street.
This story then morphed into "(insert any of my former screen names) wanted to blow Chris Hope."
I still think it was lame by Hope, but now knowing he was already gone in his mind to Tenn, I say fuck Chris Hope.

So.....in the intervening decade, it's gone from......blow Chris Hope to.....fuck Chris Hope.

For the record, I was kicked out of HiTops a few months later a few hours prior to the '06 opener. My then 25-year-old niece (also...oddly...traveling in from New Jersey at the time....she now works in a bank....in Pittsburgh) arrives without her wallet. She tells the manager, unbeknownst to me, that she's with her Dad. I then tell the guy that I'm her uncle. He throws the whole lot of us the fuck out, whereupon we walk down to Firewaters....grab a table open to the street.....then it was on to ChiTraderRob's tailgate....StillThere, RON, etc.
i say...and perhaps Barry Foster can agree on this point...Fuck HiTops...glad they went belly-up.
